I bought two of these back in 2019 - it's now 2023

I did experience some bad behavior with these lights cutting out completely when the display shows about 15-20% battery life left, but outside of that, these units have been solid. even if they end up lasting only 3-5 years - not too bad given the price and performance.

Superbly Engineered, Powerful, Bright and Critical Headlight for All Who Cycle at Night

My extensive review reflects the importance of riding with the proper headlight when cycling at night and this is the #1 on my safety riding gear, tied along with my helmet. The NiteRider Lumina 1100 Headlight is a fantastic piece of engineered hardware fitted into one of the most durable and compact sizes available. The unit feels (and is) expensive with a near-bulletproof housing that is watertight and a delight to operate, turn on and off, snap off to recharge and snap back on. The many light modes will satisfy all cyclers including those who mistakingly use the DFL Daylight Flashing Light to ride at night. The OLED display screen is clear, always legible, bright and the information displayed is fairly accurate, specially the ride time (realtime battery). My cycling is always nighttime and prior to the NiteRider, I used 2 other rechargeable headlights. It was only when using my NiteRider that I confirmed how bad, how lousy the other headlights performed. At over 1.5 hours, my rides are long and a great headlight is critical. The NitRider is a life saver not only because you can NOW clearly see what's ahead of you 150 feet or more, but because others will always see you on the highway. The 6000k LED bulb and its multi-reflective housing produces a very bright, crisp beam the will cover over 1/2 of the highway lane, depending on how you direct it. Ride time battery life is good and I wish it was better. Since my night riding exceeds 1:30 hour, I have to use the NiteRider's mid-level brightness which when powered up, offers me 3:00 hours of excellent lighting. Although I'd like to use the full 1,100 lumens brightness, that would offer me about 1:05 hours, not enough for my ride. Recharging the NiteRider takes quite a while and going from 35% remaining battery to 100% takes about 2.5 hours on a powerful 24w charger or more than 3.5 hours on a smaller one. My most important criticism goes to the handlebar strap mount whose quality is lacking and definately not on par with the headlight unit. Although it's very easy to remove and reinstall the NiteRider onto its mount, it feels and is flimsy, often times moving, rotating the headlight off position when handling it. NOTE: My first NiteRider Lumina 1100 was defective not holding charge and within a few days from purchase had to be returned for replacement. NiteRider's Tech support was excellent, always available, they did some troubleshooting and immediately recommended the replacement. My wish for all nighttime cyclers is that you PLEASE use the correct solid headlight beam when you're on the highway and STOP using the DFL Daylight Flashing Light to ride at night which is dangerous. The headlight flashing strobe effect endangers fellow riders and oncoming drivers.

Good light/horrible mount

Update - the light is so good and effective, I can't give the light a penalty (I still give the mount very low score). I am ordering another and have found other companies that make adapters and better mounts for the handlebars. The light itself is so focused and bright - I am a pretty avid flashlight person and can say this puts out a very strong 1100 lumens... it appears brighter than that. Also - +100 for the helmet mount Niterider makes and sells. Nice to have light where you LOOK vs where the handlebars point. That said, be careful where you look if you're using that helmet mount in the city! The light itself is a home run for rides less than 90 minutes (I use brightest setting) - it is GREAT and offers many modes. The issue comes with the horrendous handlebar mount - vibrates and rolls on handlebars. I had to buy another mount for my helmet... something I've never done before (helmet mounted light - never had to)

Love this light even more than one without OLED

I simply Love this light with OLED ( display ) significantly more than the same lumina 1100 series that doesn't have OLED even though it cost 50% more ( $50 )... $150 for Lumina 1100 with OLED $100 for Lumina 1100 wout OLED Both lights have Boost ( double click get max lumens 1100 ). The display is extremely useful: a. shows when buttons are locked b. shows % charged when 1st powered up c. shows % left for each light mode d. shows time left for each light mode The page button makes it extremely easy to see, identify and select the different light modes... I know it cost 50% ( $50 ) more than exact same lite without the display, but knowing exactly or even approximately how much charge I have left is crucial as I don't want to suddenly run out of battery life in middle of an evening ride... Another nice feature is when charging can see how much of a charge the device already has which indirectly let's you know how much more charge is needed to be 100% Would be nice if it list time remaining to complete charge.. The Cyclery is the vendor on Amazon I purchased mine from... The Cyclery did an excellent / Superb job delivering the light the same day for free... I purchased the light on Friday 5:26am and it was delivered the same day some time before 9pm. I don't know exact time because I was out riding... I'm glad the light was delivered same day because the other 1100 non OLED light slipped out of mount, hit ground and couldn't get light to work or respond to button. So I was able to go home and use the OLED version that was delivered to continue riding that evening... Another really cool item is not only did The Cyclery deliver light same day for free, it was 100% fully charged... I have full confidence in NiteRider as I called and talked with their support team before I ever bought any of their products and they assured me they would take care of any issues I encountered... NiteRider has been around so I feel comfortable and confident they'll be there should I need help or service and they'll deliver on their promises... I just spent in past 2 weeks ~ $1300 in bike computer, lights, radar, etcs... This light is definitely worth it... $50 won't matter over time... Apologize pics aren't clearer / crisp... For some reason my phone couldn't focus and get clear pic of blue LEDS... OLED on light is very crisp and easy to read...

Great bit of kit... love it!

This is a proper, serious good bit of kit. I like the fact that it shows how much power there is left on each setting so you can choose your option. There are probably more modes than I'll need but it's nice to have the choice. It's easy to remove from the bracket and use as a powerful torch on it's own. I'm very pleased with the purchase

Works Brilliantly

Quite surprised by this NightRider. I also have an expensive bike light from a major cycling manufacturer and side by side the NightRider compares well. It is very close to the same brightness as my 700 lumen light, but the NightRider has a much wider beam. The display showing the battery charge left is a real bonus. I wasn't sure it was needed but wouldn't go back now. Its so good not to be guessing when the charge is running low. Some people complain about the clip provided, Ive been cycling forest trails in snow on my fat bike and haven't had any issue with the lamp sliding on the handlebars or drooping down over time. Overall very happy and certainly something Id recommend.

Probably the best front bike light out there

Waterproof (when cap is on, lol), so bright the lowest setting is my usual go to in 99% of my night ride situations, heads up display is super easy to to read at any given time helping when changing modes or simply making sure lights in right mode, and an extremely sturdy body will not break easily. Set up and instructions are easy for anyone not used to niterider, even comes with a couple cool stickers. The price does seem a little steep, but after a year of my friend using it, and even dropping it a few times from clumsiness its still in perfect condition, after seeing it for so long I made the change and quite honestly will not be going back to the cheap front lights. 1100 lumens is more than enough

Encantado con mi compra

Obtuve el mejor precio en el mercado, la luz es muy potente, al principio me costaba acostumbrarme por que a su capacidad maxima dura 2 hrs pero me adapte utilizando sus diferentes modos a lo largo de mis recorridos optimizando el tiempo de duracion. Mis recorridos son de 3 a 4 hrs y no tengo problemas.

Excellent commuting Light

I've owned Niterider products before, and they are the best lights you could ever own. I've had other brands such as Light&Motion, Cateye and Bontrager. Though they always had problems with either the batter or build quality. What I love about this Lumia 1100 Boost is how compact it is for the power output. The LCD readout is very easy to use and helpful. It shows how much time is left on a current light setting, which is essential when commuting at night. When you charge it also tells you the charge in percentage. It charges via USB and quickly I should add. The build quality is fantastic made substantial like a rock and won't scratch up like the others lights I've used. It is also effortless to put on and take off my bicycle.
