Stitching

The stitching is absolutely horrible, I literally threw this about 20 times and the stitches busted open from only 15 feet away!

More importantly my dogs like it.

More importantly my dogs like it. It's heavier than the chuckit fuzzy ball, so it makes them work to retrieve it. The paded layer gets nice an saturated, while the internal core keeps it buoyant. I would buy it again.

lasted less than five minutes.

the dog ripped the stuffing out in under 5 minutes. then it became useless. in the trash. burned money.

Waste of money

Didn't last a day. Dog had hole chewed in it and it's filling leaking out in less than a day. Save your money.

Doesn't last

Seam opened and began spilling contents within just a couple of minutes. My dog's teeth went right through this just with him carrying it. He has a "soft mouth" but this did not hold up.

Poor quality

Gave to my two year old lab and within two minutes she had punctured it and the filling was coming out. This is a health hazard.

Do not waste your money

I bought this for my seven month old Sprocker. There was no string attached to the throw toy. Started a training session and took him unto the green, threw it for him to fetch. He picked up and brought it to me twice, didn’t “rag” it. The bag was leaking a sand like substance. I examined it more closely. It is made with a lightweight canvas like material. My example is very crudely stitched. Overall Very badly made of poor materials with poor quality control.

Perfect for throw and Fetch. Not for chewing.

I have seen negative reviews which i think it is not fair. My review below : 1/. 5 start for being light weight and easy for the dog to fetch it. 2/. 5 star as it describes, 3./ decent size - medium for my English Springer Spaniel. 4/. no damage. 5/. seems durable. But I would like to point this out: 1/. THIS IS NOT FOR CHEWING - If my dog chewed this then it will be my fault. Definitely it will break and come in to pieces. 2/. This is NOT for toggle.

Lasted 10 minutes

Manufacturers advert states: “Great for everyday play”…… ”The Canvas Training Dummy can be used for training, exercise and play”. I emphasise that it states it’s is ok for everyday play. Sadly, it’s not. Mine arrived yesterday and I thought it looked really good quality but my 14 week old dachshund had it for about 10 minutes when I noticed black stuff in her bed which, upon closer inspection turned out to be the stuffing from this product. I took it off of her and the canvas had started to open up from her chewing and that’s where the stuffing was leaking from. I know some reviews have defended this product and said it’s not designed to be a chew toy but I bought this along with a Whizclick as I’d read that this was great when used alongside the whizclick for puppy training. It is suggested that it be used as pups favourite toy and if you can train her to drop it, she’ll be able to drop/give anything..!! Even if you forget the above suggestion, which was in an article in a recent VIP magazine at Pets at Home, surely you must agree that it should be able to withstand some chewing as dogs have to pick it up in their mouths..!! I assume the filling is pet safe but even so, it won’t have any filling left if I let my pup keep chewing it so I had to take it from her.

Lasted 10 minutes!

Bought for 4 month old lab puppy as training aid, after a couple of times retrieving it he had a bit of a chew, retrieved, chewed a bit...you get the picture. After 10 minutes he got fed up so I took it off him, he had chewed the corners and a cork type crumb was coming out needless to say it had to go in bin! Total waste of money.

Retrieving dummy

I always have two or three of these with me; after 100's of retrieves by my springer from land and in the water they will eventually split as the stitching rots and the powdered cork will come out. However, these are not designed to be toys, they are for working gun dogs to learn and to practice finding and retrieving, if your dog bites into them or shakes them they will become damaged (like any training dummy). I find the clix dummies to be at least as robust as the canvas game fair/gunshop type. The medium is the perfect size for my small springer and would also suit a cocker or a Lab puppy. Others have mentioned the lack of toggle, I haven't found this a problem when throwing the dummy and actually think the lack of a toggle whipping around is safer for the dogs eyes when running whilst carrying the dummy
