This is a Great Product!!
I wanted something like this for a very long time and I'm glad I bought this one. Installation was a bit tricky on my own just because I had to balance on the ladder and try to line everything up without dropping the bolts, nuts, or main unit but I got it done in about 10 to 15 minutes, including measuring, marking, and drilling the pilot holes. It seems to be very sturdy and rolls out and in easily and quickly. It doesn't track the cord from side to side so you do have to kind of do that for it to make sure it doesn't roll all up to one side and possibly jam but that's a small thing to me. The cord is think and the outlet is sturdy. I've had this running my 12" Dewalt Mitre saw, my small shop vac, and my cellphone charger all at once with no issues. The length is great. I have this in the center of my 2 car garage ceiling and I can run it out and down the drive way to plug in vacuums to clean the cars parked in the driveway or power the power tools I setup around the side of the garage. I can't be happier with this product for what it is. Would the auto track from side to side on wind up be nice, yes, but it would probably cost more and break more. I like this simple sturdy design. Would a swivel that allowed it to turn in all directions be nice, yes, but it would just make the mount more complicated and probably more flimsy. It doesn't cost that much cord to just have it point out 1 direction and then wrap around itself essentially to go in the other direction when you need to. This is a great product!!

What you see is what you get with this. It's a big, sturdy heavy duty cord reel. I installed one of these in my primary garage. I like the cord because unlike some of the smaller Bayco's, it doesn't feel cheap. The ratchet works well and has a consistent take-up. The cord collar that sets the height is big and tough and works well. It comes with two bolts to mount it to a joist, and the outlet has a red LED on it, so you know right away if you trip the breaker. Speaking of which, the plug has it's own built-in breaker, which I supposed is a nice touch, although if it trips, I have to get a ladder out to reset it. The mounting system through the yellow handles is well made with brass threaded holes in the body of the reel, and two black thumbscrews that hold it in place. In fact, I liked this so much, I just ordered a another one for my 2nd garage where I do all the work on my cars. Pros: Heavy Duty Built-in breaker Easy mounting system Effective take-up system LED indicator Cons: It's heavy, but you only care about that once

I own 4 of these, 3 inside my shop and 1 in the center of my garage. Very durable and owned for 3yrs. One thing I think is pointless is the circuit breaker on the plug. I cut it off so didn't have to deal with it tripping (it trips very easily BTW) and hardwired into my electrical boxes for an outlet. Killed 2 birds with 1 stone, no more 13a breaker AND doesn't take up an outlet. Win-win!

Reels, reels, reels!
The reel is plastic, while the bracket is metal. The bracket easily comes off the reel for mounting. The reel doesn't always want to recoil, as sometimes the cord gets stuck to one side of the reel, instead of being spread out evenly. You just have to pull the cord back out and guide it so it's spread across the entire width of the reel. The rubberized plug and cord is pretty sturdy and hasn't left any marks on my car, since I can be a bit careless when I'm dragging the cord around. Added it next to my air hose reel and it's quite nice.

Gift for my Son
This was a Christmas Gift for my Son. He had asked for a 40 or 50 Ft. retractable cord, so after looking at most of the review, this one seemed to be the best 50 ft. one offered, with the heaviest gauge wire. I don't think it has actually been used yet, so I can't give it a full 5 star rating until we see how it works. He is wanting to use it on his (covered) Boat Dock, so we will see how well it does outdoors later on this summer.

Great to have in convenient locations to have electricity any time I need it outdoors. Had to put them up high in my car port to keep any rainy weather away from them. Hope they're not prone to problems from humidity. Wish I could have bought only one that was 100 feet and wish I could have bought one that could be kept outdoors where rain & snow are a problem.

After just a couple of uses one realizes the cord must be carefully fed back onto the spool or it will gather in one area and stop the spool from retracting. It just means you must actively participate in the rewind or it will jam. At least it is a quality cord.

I bought 2 of these items for my shop. They installed easily and work very well. I would have given a 5 star rating but I find the 3 receptacles not as tight as I would like when plugging in tools.

Works good. 50 feet of cable which is longer than most out there for sale. Needs to be close to outlet so plug in cord can reach so pick mounting location with that in mind - I had to add a short pig tail
