Just what i needed for the perfect price

My refrigerator repair guy wanted to charge me $150 for this piece plus installation. I watched a Youtube video and changed it myself. Very easy to do as long as the lines aren't frosted over. Saved myself a bunch of money.

Seems to be working

My old part was horribly rusted and had a large hole in it, worse than the photo below. I think it was never tilted correctly to drain the water. This part wasn't too difficult to swap out on my own. I followed the advice of other reviewers and treated it with cold galvanizing paint before installing. My refrigerator seems to be working better now. Hopefully, it will last. On a related note, I would never buy a GE appliance again. My GE Profile, which came with the house, has had multiple issues in the last few years. Other brands are rated much better.

Works as a replacement part, should be made of aluminum instead of galvanized steel.

I don't understand why this part is made of galvanized metal instead of aluminum, which would not rust. This part is destined, fated, determined, simply must rust because it is frequently bathed in water. When it does fail, you face either a substantial amount of DIY work or a service call to replace. Having said that,the replacement part works as intended and will work until it rusts out. Would give five stars if it was made of aluminum. Fridge is back in service and no longer has puddles of water in the bottom

It's definitely OEM. There are great videos on installation on the internet. the only hiccup is that some of the GE Models are slightly different so the videos could be a little off, but very easy to understand..
