Great product but not a great value

I Could have purchased locally for less than what I paid with Amazon. That being said, I would say that the product is somewhat easy to use. You need to have strength in your hands to hold it and be flexible in order to use it. If using on your lower legs you must be able to bend at the waist which for me at times is an issue.

works well

Honestly, I'm surprised at how much I like the aiam Restore Leg Massager - Dual Sided Hand Held Muscle Massage Roller. I have a muscle myopathy that can make recovery hard. My muscles get tired sore, my legs especially. Massage helps. I've tried various rollers and gadgets without much success but this little roller does a surprisingly nice job. It pulls apart farther than you'd think in the thigh area, and even though I was using it without help I was able to do both arms. It really was nice on my calves. I could see it being a problem with a hairy person and you might want to wear pants or leggings. After I was done rolling my muscles felt better and the cramp I was starting to get on my side calf, like a charley horse, disappeared.

For me it helps

I have nerve damage in one thigh, and I never heard of or saw something like this before. It seems tailor made to provide a measure of relief in my thigh when I use it just like you see in the product photos. If my thigh were any bigger though, this wouldn't work because it's not made for a large thigh. I'd say it's made for medium to small thighs. And that's all it does for me. I don't have any real reason to use it on my arm and it doesn't do anything for me anywhere except in that one thigh. They should have made it bigger in my opinion. But it does help and the concept is solid. I know because like I said, I've got nerve damage. This gives me painful sensations. I get some relief using this, and I'm keeping it mostly within reach at my home workstation for this reason.

Appears well built but not for me

I was immediately impressed with this handheld roller but had difficulties using it. I don't have any sore muscles per se, I was hoping to use for cellulite reduction in my legs. I have seen similar devices that claim to target the fascia to break up the cellulite. I was hoping that this unit could assist with that. However I would not recommend buying this product for that, because after some research, I believe this unit does not penetrate deep enough to do that. That is no fault of the product as its intended use is to relieve sore muscles. Besides that fact, I personally cannot use on my legs as it is extremely ticklish and I am not a ticklish person, perhaps it will take some getting used to.

Instant results

My husband has had golfer's elbow for a few years now. He says the pain is incredibly annoying and his grip has become a lot weaker. Usually he has to manually massage his arm for about 20 minutes to get any type of notable relief, but with this device he says he felt results in about 5 minutes. He placed his forearm in between the rollers and simply moved the device up and down his arm while simultaneously rotating his wrists. He said this way he got a complete 360 forearm massage with very little effort. You can really feel the 'teeth' of each roller hitting the muscles and basically tenderizing them. This would also work well if you suffer from piriformis syndrome as this will massage the outer edge of the calf muscle with ease. All in all I'd say this is a good product to have if you get sore muscles. It feels great and is super easy to use.

Hurts a little, helps flexibility

The outside of my thighs is extremely sensitive to pressure. This hurts a little but also feels really good. I use it in my office chair while I work from home. I do 30 passes on each section of my arms and legs. It’s a little big for my arms but I make it work. I have really tight tendons in my groin and I’m trying to get back into a split and I feel like this helps. I really like it. It feels sturdy. I keep it in my office/gym and it’s perfect. My husband uses a foam roller and I’ve always wanted to get the relief he seems to from it but I find that a foam roller is very painful for me. This is a great options to roll out arm and leg muscles. If you’re very thin, you may not be able to use it on your arms. Please hit the button if this info was helpful.

Not a hollow-plastic roller.

If you have looked at this item, you have, or will, see almost identical looking items available in Amazon's "similar" items or "related" items. I have not tried them all, but I have tried one other that looks almost identical, but is not the same, functionally. The biggest difference is in the rollers. The handle of the "other" one was also flimsy, kinking/folding under pressure. The rollers, though, are the most important part. The Gaiam product has dense, spongy rollers. The cheap knockoff has hollow plastic rollers. The hollow plastic rollers do not allow you to vary the pressure as well, and once they collapse, they have a crease that is weaker than the rest of the roller, and then they don't roll! There may be other good quality rollers, similar to the Gaiam product, but there are also cheap knock-offs. This is a quality product at a fair price. Works well

If you have fat legs this can be a bit much. You also might want to wear leggings or something when using this because it can pull your leg hairs. It is easy enough to use and you can maneuver it to get your whole leg area. It really helps loosen your muscles.
