Update 06/30/2016 I have upgraded to the Gaiam Sol extra large mat. Love it!!!! But with the XL mat now the strap is even smaller, and a pain in the neck (literally) to sling across my back and walk to the studio. Gaiam: PLEASE make an extra long strap! An extra 12" would make a world of difference for those of us who walk a few blocks to practice. I'd gladly pay a few bucks extra to keep the convenience of the D-rings Gaiam uses. >>> Does what it's supposed to do- keeps a mat rolled. Well made, good quality cotton (?) strap and stainless steel rings, keeps my mat tightly rolled and in place. If it works for you, this is probably a lifetime purchase. As a big gal who walks about a mile round trip to practice on an almost daily basis, I wish a.) it were a few inches longer so it doesn't rub my neck when I sling it over my shoulder or b) if someone can tell me a better technique to wrap/carry this so it doesn't, I would be sincerely appreciative. Maybe I'm just overlooking the obvious. It happens. It'd just be nice to have it stay in place so I'm not constantly shifting it around on my back as I try to duck and dodge other pedestrians and sidewalk cafe tables.

A Good Strap for Yoga Mats!

This holds my mat with ease. I use a heavier grade mat and this doesn't even strain against it!

Expensive but does its job perfectly

Yes, $10 for a strap with two metal rings on it is pretty pricy. But it does its job flawlessly. It's pretty comfortable to wear, and I've never had my yoga mat escape from me.
