Not a sponge!

You can read a newspaper though these. Loose weave gauze that has no useful applications that I can see.

Ok for intended purpose. Not so much for wood finishes.

When a product says "lint free", I expect it to be seamed on cut edges. I wanted lint-free pads to apply wood finish. These are not lint free in that sense. While they would be ok to put on a very small wound, the gauze is simply cut and folded. Ok for the intended purpose, probably, but not at all acceptable for applying wood finish. These were cheap enough that it was work trying.

So useful

I'm an esthetician and makeup artist- these work great for removing product during a facial (clumpy masks, etc). I also really like to use them on clients (or myself) before a makeup application. The gauze is sturdy, so it does not break. I use a small amount of water or a facial mist on the gauze, then go over my client's face to remove any dead, dry skin. Exfoliates gently and creates a great base for foundation! :)

Very lose weave gauze

Pros: can be used for cleaning/exfoliation of wounds/skin quite effectively. Good at wicking up moisture. Cons: not lint free, often get little bits of thread everywhere (not great for wound use or near eyes). They like to roll up and get misshapen if you drag them along skin/surfaces (don't try to rise and reuse to finish removing a mask).They are not square when fully unfolded, they're a long rectangle. I like them for using to exfoliate my skin or for removing nail polish, or for quick wipe-ups when you need something clean but can toss after. I certainly wouldn't use these for wound care, just beauty. They are rather rough, so keep that in mind when using. You'll probably need a bunch to do full body exfoliation, and they tend to just roll up into a tube unless you learn to hold them very specifically. So for body exfoliation you're working on very small areas at once. Don't expect to do your own back with these!
