Best waterproof pants

Runs small

Purchased these rain pants for a week at on a school camping trip that, unfortunately, has rain in the forecast. I wasn't sure if I would be a small or medium, so I ordered both with the intention of returning the size that doesn't fit. I am generally a small in most articles of clothing (5'9", 140 lbs). Both the small and medium were surprisingly narrow through the waist, but the small was just too snug around the seat. I would recommend sizing up from the size that you normally wear.

Nice quality, good protection against torrential New Zealand rains!

Purchased these for our NZ vacation - which included several multi-day hikes. With polypro tights underneath, these Berghaus Deluge rain pants kept us dry and comfortable for days. They're easy to move in - while climbing up steep, rocky inclines - and the side vents/zippers offered extra breathability. For ~$35, they're a great deal! For your core, however, you really need a high quality Gore-Tex jacket to keep you dry and warm in torrential conditions like we experienced (we rented jackets from the NZ hiking tour company). But the Deluge Rain Pants were simply perfect for our legs!

Thin but cute.

They fit great. I used them in cold weather and they worked ok in Colorado at 50 degrees. They are on the thin side but I’ll use them daily this winter. I live in Southern California so cold is 40* - 70* to me. I did buy thicker socks for the days I was going out in the snow.

Not waterproof

The waist was small enough, but the rest of the pants are oversized. Also, not waterproof. My boyfriend bought a pair which I borrow for work since my size was not really any smaller except for the waist and when it rains my legs are wet. Very wet. So... Cannot recommend as rain pants, but decent windbreakers.

Fit and quality of this item is awesome, however I did not know that it was "overwear." They are waterproof and are not appropriate for everyday wear. Especially if you live in the desert when it rarely ever rains.

These work great. I work outdoors in a logyard in OREGON and these have not failed and are great quality.

Fit is good and they are waterproof

Good fit, waterproof and quality is good. The zips and studs at the sides of the leggings allow for greater ease in putting on and removing the trousers and they will easily go over boots/wellingtons without having to take them off.

Comfortable, waterproof and breathable - Good value

I bought these for my wife for an Autumn walking holiday in Scotland (and I bought myself the men's version too). They were excellent in a week of wet and windy walks. Firstly, they're easy to get on and off when wearing your boots. The side zips come up your thigh, which gives you plenty of flexibility. The zips are tough and have tags on them to make them easy to grip if you have cold hands. The poppers on the flaps add strength to prevent putting strain on the zips when hiking. And, the flap covers the zip to keep out the weather. We walked in several heavy rain storms and the trousers kept my wife dry and warm. But, they weren't sweaty, so the breathability worked too. The trousers pack down small in our backpacks and they're light. These Berghaus Deluge trousers live up to their name. They do their job, and they're good value. They made a big difference to how we enjoyed our walking holiday.

Best ever waterproofs

These are my 2nd pair and I had my first pair for 4 years. They were worn when it was raining for dog walking, horse riding and mucking out etc. The articulated knees make them very comfortable and easy to wear and the side zips and poppers make getting them on and off over boots easy. The waistband toggle allows the waistband to be adjusted. I would definitely recommend these but I would say go for a size larger than you normally take. I am a size 12 and although the size 12 fit they were slightly on the tight side but not uncomfortable. My second pair are a size 14 and fit perfectly with the added addition of being able to tighten the waistband if needed.

Well made, very comfortable, and the long length trousers are actually long enough!

I made use of the Amazon Try Before You Buy service to try on a couple of different sizes, and would agree with the other reviewers - I'd size up, especially if you intend to wear anything other than leggings underneath. The fit: I am 5'11" and a fairly standard size 12, but the size 14 fit me far better, and joy of joys the long length is actually long enough for me which is something of a rarity. The style: The waist band has a drawstring which is a nice touch and means that you can size up and cinch in the waist if needs be. The trousers open up at the sides which allows you to put them on without taking your boots off, which is very convenient when hiking. Overall: I'm delighted that I bought these, and I'm genuinely looking forward to my next bad weather hike. I suspect these will be a game-changer for me. Just one thing that I feel I should mention - it wasn't initially obvious to me which way round to wear the trousers because of the lack of label "at the back". They feel very odd if, like me, you try them on the wrong way round!

Fairly waterproof

Seem quite strong. Not completely waterproof in heavy rain but pretty good
