Adequate benchtop grinder

This grinder is adequate for occasional use. I find it very slow to come up to speed thus frustrating for small quick jobs. It vibrated items off my bench when bolted down. Several attempts to true the wheel didn’t help. Replacing the grinding wheel with a premium 6” wheel helped both issues. If buying again, I’d spend more for a more powerful grinder.

Worth what I paid for it, I guess. I mounted it on a piece of plywood with a cleat so I can clamp it in my woodworking vise. Most of the time it is on a shelf out of my way. It worked okay for sharpening my lawn mower blade and will work on axes, etc., which is what I bought it for. I do have a couple of quibbles, though. It vibrates a lot while running up. Once it gets to speed, it is pretty smooth. Perhaps new wheels will correct this. I put a 60-watt bulb in the lamp, but the vibration made the lamp wander all over the place and by the time it reached full speed, the bulb had broken. I don't see any way to tighten the lamp to prevent this. Also, the tool rests don't pivot. This means I have to sharpen blades "free hand". I was going to knock off a star for this, but looking at the picture, I can see that it should have been clear when I bought it, so I think four stars is a fair rating.

Great value for the money

We use this in our machine shop for the diamond wheels only. If you are a machinist then you know that the diamond wheels cannot have any vibration or wobble. This grinder has great bearings and keeps the diamond wheels very steady at the RPM of $3,450.

Great grinder, very quiet and osha compliant

Very good looking grinder and also very quiet. Came with all the safety stuff to make it osha compliant, which is important because I use it at work. Only negative was that one of the brand new grinding wheels was warped to the point that it was unuseable (vibration) and I had to replace it with a dewalt wire wheel which i was going to do anyway. I need to contact amazon customer service to see what recourse I have.

Great value for the money!

I’ve been using a 6” grinder for the last 20 years that I can’t read or remember the brand name of. It had a little (forgivable) wobble but was very loud. This is extremely well balanced with almost no wobble when it comes up to speed. It’s quite enough to have an easy conversation while grinding and the 1” wide wheels are a surprisingly nice feature (my last were 3/4”). I replaced the bulb that came with this with a bright LED and the difference is worth it.

GREAT GRINDER

Just got my grinder today and assembled it. Mounted it to my stand ( homemade), and fired it up. I cannot believe how stable it is. I have had lots of grinders but this one is the quietest and smoothest one I have ever seen or heard. Tool rests and eye guards are very nice and made well. I would suggest using Lock tite on the screws but not the knobs you will be using to adjust the eye shields. I highley recommend this grinder.

Wrong parts

The grinder seems well built and does not vibrate more than one would expect. Wheels run true out of the box and met the ring test. Only reason they get 3 stars is because the adjusting knob screws for the tool rests were the wrong size so could not assemble the tool rests. Contacted Amazon c\s there was no recourse except to send it back. Instead it is an easy fix so they gave me a refund for double the cost of the fix and so Amazon gets my 5 stars
