Fits As Marked, But Too Thin

Let me start by saying that we have many Puppia harnesses and a couple jackets, and that most people who give them really negative reviews do so because they haven’t sized their dog correctly. With that said, this isn’t my favorite jacket for two reasons: The back side is very stiff (something that might improve with a wash or two) and more importantly, the insulation is non-existent. It is lined, but other than that there is no tangible insulating factor. It’s not a jacket to be worn in below freezing temps for my dog. Probably not even below 40° which makes this jacket not very useful for us. The liner also is on the rougher side compared with some of Puppia’s other offerings. Now, the good: The large is long enough for my lanky 12 lb. Yorkie mix. He’s about 13.5” long and could have it slightly longer, but the current length is ok. Better then some of the shorter styled Puppia coats which end up either too short, or too wide on him. The shell of the jacket seems more durable and water resistant than many other Puppia offerings, and dog coats in general. The zipper seems to be good quality, and the built in harness is always great. If you’re in a not very cold climate, have a dog that doesn’t get cold easily, or are looking for a spring/fall coat, this could be a good option. Unfortunately for our needs it’s a return. Really hoping Puppia starts making some better insulated options in this longer length. The Puppia Frost Coat is a good alternative that’s somewhat better insulated and softer, but a bit less durable and waterproof on the outside. For sub-freezing temperatures we generally switch to Hurtta coats, which are much warmer and offer better coverage, but no built in harness.

Built in Harness is the BEST!!!

This is our second Puppia coat for our French Bulldog. Quality construction and materials and having the harness as part of the coat is so incredible. Easy to get on and off-zipper is heavy duty.
