Very easy to install

I really like this fixture. It was UL listed and very easy to install. I like that I can use plant grow lights in the fixture and aim the lights where I have plants around the room to ensure enough light for them, which was why I got this particular fixture. Perfect for my needs

Good quality light - a couple of installation annoyances

It's a good looking light. In case you were wondering the bulbs it uses are Medium Base BR30's. I put 65w bulbs in mine (Philips 65BR30/FL55/LL) and they look nice. The bulbs go pretty close to the edge so the fixtures really don't snoot the light all that much...it's more of a wash than a spot. Installation was fine although one annoyance has to do with the way they wired it. The three fixtures are wire nutted together with a jumper wire coming out for connection to the circuit. All that is fine BUT they cut the three fixture wires to equal length and cinched them up really tight before applying the wire nut. The net result is it makes the wires fall directly over the hole in the center where the threaded rod comes through. There's also a big wad of fiberglass insulation on the underside, so as you're trying to get the fixture mounted you either end up with fiberglass or wires in the hole, which blocks the threaded rod. Really a pain...took me two or three tries to get it mounted. Another issue with the mounting is getting the depth of the threaded rod just right so the fixture mounts flush. Just takes a few tries to get the rod at exactly the right depth. The finish nut that holds the fixture to the ceiling isn't all that deep so if you're off just a little bit you can be left with a gap. Once you make it past those challenges the fixture looks great!

Great deal on a GREY fixture, works nicely.

I just moved to a location that didn't have ceiling fixtures for the first time. Not knowing anything about electrical work i was initially scared of just buying fixtures and trying to attach them to the ceiling. Seeing the price of this unit was very reasonable. I thought i'd try. I ordered a small step-ladder, this fixture and some light bulbs. It was time to learn! Product arrived and was surprised to see it was Grey. Not a big issue Fits with my room's color scheme but I expected white. Many others have said this. Installation was tricky but it was all my fault. Step ladder was slightly too small so i was stretching a lot. Protip: Use a measuring tape to check your height, the step ladder height and the ceiling height. You're installing electrical stuff you want to be comfortable. Once the wires were installed getting the central screw to line up with the hole was tricky. I found a trick though. I took my screw driver and threaded it through the hole in the fixture and then into the hole in the bottom of the central screw. This made it easy to line both up and then i just had to push. Once in everything was working nicely. As long as you dont mind the color I would totally recommend this to anyone.

wiring is not copper

Likes: It looks better that what it replaced. The fixture was larger than the one it replaced so I didn't have to worry about the ring left in the ceiling from prying the old fixture from the ceiling. The off-white color worked well for me. Dislikes: Aluminum wire is used in the fixture ... more common in the 1970's The junction between the house copper to light aluminum restricts use to 75 watts. Suggest that you use LED lights to be on the safe side. It has a removable black insert that makes the white fixture have a black 1/4 inch ring visible from outside. You should plan to remove them because they will probably be broken. I bought 4 lights (12 inserts). only 4 inserts were not broken. Again, suggestive that these were manufactured long ago. Finally, if you are replacing a ceiling light, the mounting bolt had different threads than the bracket in the ceiling so I had to remove it and use the included mounting bracket instead.

Nice fixture. Here are some installation tips.

I am using the fixture as a ceiling light, with three 9 watt LED spotlights, and am happy with it. The fixture can be installed by one person, but it is easier with two (one to hold the fixture, and one to do the work). It comes with installation instructions, but there are just a few things to do, because most of the hardware and wireing are already assembled. I had some trouble with the final installation step, which is to line a hole in the canopy up with a cylindrical threaded "nipple" that is secured to the junction box, then push the canopy up against the ceiling and lock it in place with a "cap nut". Here are 2 tips that make that step easier: (1) use a screwdriver's shaft to guide the hole in the canopy onto the nipple and (2). The cap nut that comes with the fixture is closed at one end, so it can't be screwed on very far. Buy a regular nut that is open at both ends to screw onto the nipple that holds the fixture up. Otherwise, you must adjust the nipple by trial & error until it extends to exactly the right distance below the canopy, which can get tireing and frustrating..

Not actually white

The listing says the light fixture is white, however the box I received said the light fixture was off-white. When I opened the box the light fixture was grey.
