Great set made a great gift

The price was right on this set that I bought as a gift. It was a great little set that we found out can do really cool things when incorporated into other play like legos or train set. Ultimately it doesn't do a whole heck of a lot and there are a LOT of pieces that can get everywhere, but they all easily fit back in the box. Pretty impressive when ALL the gears are set up and you can make a really complicated or super tall gear system.

Fun!

These gears were a big hit with my car and truck loving preschooler. Nicely packaged for gifting. I will invest in some of the other sets so that he can build more. Very creative and good for fine motor skills. Not too terribly priced for such a good quality toy. Sound purchase.

Good potential!

This is a cool little toy, but the play pattern gets boring fairly quickly. It likely needs a bunch of fun accessories that makes for variable play. So, good.... but not great. Sorry!

Easy enough for toddlers, interesting enough for older kids

This toy is wonderful. The plastic is thick so the pieces aren’t going to break. The pieces are big so there isn’t a choking hazard. There are so many gears that you can spend hours creating complex designs. My two year old understood immediately how to turn the handle to make the gears spin, and she loved watching the gears move in different directions on the design I built. As she grows, she’ll figure out how to add gears and towers herself. This toy will be engaging for her for years to come.

Great Toy, Just wish there was more.

My son and I had been over at a friend's house and they had a set of these. The two boys had set to making all sorts of things rather quickly and I was amazed. The set was really cool and seemed to bring out a lot of their creativity and imagination. I thought it was neat especially the way that it helped them think and decide how to build things and what they could do to get all the gears to work together. Together we all built cars and neat things that had moving parts. So when we got home I ordered a set for my son because of how much fun we had with it. When it came we did the same thing. We opened the box and began going through all the things that we could make. But, I found one problem. I wish there was more! The set I feel falls a little short. It only has one crank handle. There should be more. Because if we both make two things one person has to crank things by hand while the other gets the handle. I don't mind this for myself, I'll use my hand. But, the thing is.. it limits what you can do. I also wish there were more connector pieces. The pieces that go between the gears. Because it would be nice to build bigger things. You almost need to order a couple sets at once. However, with the one set that we have, we have created some fun stuff. Getting around the lack of extra handles and lack of connector pieces. We have had a great deal of fun with these. I love watching my son build cars and trucks with wheels and other moving parts. He has a lot of fun with them and I think they are great busy toys especially for boys with those building minds. My son is always building things, and this was perfect for him.

My 3 yr old grandson was fascinated by this gift. He loves putting things together.

A simple Educational, yet massively fun Toy. My Grandson loves to watch the cogs turning and with a bit of help from Dad managed to have fun assembling this too. I think I will be buying more of these sets for his Birthday. Good value for money.

Fun, colourful but needs adult assistance

The Gears ! Gears! Gears! series was highly recommended to me by other home daycares who said their daycare kids couldn't get enough of them. My kids were intrigued right away by the colours and the cool feature that you could make the gears spin but the pieces are quite hard to snap together and you have to have great motor skills to fit each gear on the circle peg on the green board. The kids tend to need quite a bit of help. I would say that the 2 year olds love this activity the most but that it is far too advanced for a two year old to do on their own so you have to be the one helping them and basically create it with them or for them. I find that the 4 year olds can do most everything themselves on this activity and get creative and I have had kids who were 8 and up play with it and keep busy for a while creating something. It is probably great as a one on one activity or for parents to do with their children but it isn't really an independent toy.
