Bright and Trimmable!!!

I hope this helps someone but I looked through several different outdoor options for LED strip, which I installed underneath my deck railing, and this was the best one for the following reasons: - It is incredibly bright, which adds enough ambience lighting for us to see while we're on the deck - The light is encased within a clear resin that is waterproof, which proved itself during several storms - It is TRIMMABLE!!! Look at the LED strip closely and you will notice where the individual strips are joined (about every 19 inches each) as there is a clear cut. You can also look at the LED strip from the bottom side and see a darker orange/brown spot every 19 inches - this will indicate the same places you can cut. Use a pair of scissors for a clean cut here, then seal the end with a clear waterproof silicone (GE Advanced Clear Silicone or Lexel Clear Silicone). Let it cure per instruction and you will have a working LED strip!!! - I simply connected this to a smart outdoor plug (e.g. Wyze Outdoor Plug) and scheduled the lighting through the app - Super easy to install with the clips and screws, just be sure you pull on it tight so there's no sagging during installation

Bright!

Not for accent lighting. Even thou they state 3000k they’re blinding on the deck rails even after I bought a smart dimmer and set it at the lowest setting. I finally got some small stainless steel 90 degree brackets to mount it under the lip of the railing. Very durable construction!

Very sturdy and well enclosed. No on/off switch. No remote. Good waterproofness.

No on/off switch. Did work on a dimmer I used. No remote. Very sturdy and well enclosed. Nice thick cord. This is industrial grade lighting. The entire strip is coated in thick vinyl, thick enough that wrapping it around anything with a narrower circumference than a soda can is tough. I have a version of these from Syfvania that is not coated in plastic, and they appear to be very similar, in fact it looks like the adhesive that is on the normal ones is actually still inside these coated versions! The warm white is a little cooler (bluer) than I expected but not the really blue that some can be. IP65 rated. Note about waterproofness: The IP in IP65 means "Ingress Protection." The first number is the level of protection against external particles. The higher the number, the better the protection. Ranges from 0 (No protection) to 6 (tight protection from dust). The second number is the degree of protection against water intrusion. This rating ranges from 0 (no protection from water whatsoever) to 8 (over 1-meter water depth immersion protection).This is rated IP65 a mediium level of protection against dust and lint (represented by the first digit 6) and the 5 for water protection means protected against low pressure jets of water from all directions, limited ingress permitted.. This is NOT the highest level of protection but should be fine getting sprayed with water.

Great Light Strip But Can't Vary In Length

This is a very bright "daylight" strip, at 6500K, so this would not be for you, if you prefer a warm white amber tinted glow. The unit is very well made and really equates to rope lighting but instead of being round, it is flat and includes mounting clips which snap over the strip, wherever you want them. There are 40 clips and 80 screws to attach with. The only negative, for which I deducted 1 Star, is that you better have an uninterrupted 32 foot run, where you want to mount it, since it can't be shortened by cutting the end off. And it also can't make angled turns when trying to bend it in its flat plane. You can bend it in the direction that it is rolled when you unreel it. For my purpose, I mounted it, pointing down, to the underside of my roof eave on the back patio, in which I had a straight run of about 40 feet with no turns needed. The other thing to know about this, is that you will probably need an extension cord to power this, since the plug in lead cord from the point it plugs into an outlet, to the first point of illumination is around 5 feet. But also realize that if you do use an extension cord, you must take into account, how you will protect the connection from rain and possibly shorting out. Probably the best solution is to simply unplug it when not in use. Overall, the build quality of this strip is outstanding and robust. But the inflexibility of length is a star against it.

No sticky backing; screw-mount not suitable for my vinyl deck rails, a bit bright

These light strips are larger than others I have had. I don't know if it is because they are for outdoor use, but they are wider and heavier than usual. Perhaps it is just because it is well-built for longterm use. The only mounting option included are clips that must be screwed into a surface. I wanted to use this light strip under my deck rails, but they are vinyl and I really don't want to drill a bunch of tiny holes to mount the lights. I am trying to find suitable outdoor mounting tape instead, even though it will take a lot of work to remove in the future. I'd rather do that than screw in 40 clips. The warm white light temperature matches my other warm white outdoor lighting, so that was good. It is just a bit on the bright side. I would have loved for it to be a little dimmer, or better yet, have adjustable brightness levels. For my needs, because of the mounting issue and it being a bit too bright, I give it 4 stars.
