Clean clear water.
I have been using these filters for years. In my city there are still areas that are fed with lead pipes. I was concerned for my family's health so I bought the under-sink filtration system and have used perfectly clear water for drinking ever since. A great way to protect yourself and family from the unseen dangers dripping from your faucet.

These filters have ALWAYS worked for me
I have been buying these filters (Pentair Pentek P-250) for nine years. All I can say is that they work, they are very inexpensive, and I cannot tell the difference between these filters and the much more expensive ones I used to buy. Yes, the water is very black at first due to the charcoal dust in the second filter. But after running the water for five to ten minutes, it's gone. The water remains cloudy for a few days due to the tiny air bubbles that are in the water, but that too disappears within a few days. Oh, and the water tastes excellent. I will continue to buy these filters in the future. They completely meet my expectations. That's really all I can ask for when it comes to something like a water filter.

Perfect fit for my Culligan water filter system
I've had my Culligan water filtration system for 20 years, These filters fit perfectly and really work GREAT! I change them every six months and WOW are they dirty at that point, which means the filters are really working! They REALLY make your water taste better as well. In NYC, they put a lot of chlorine in the water. You can taste and smell it. After the water goes through THESE filters, there is no foul taste.

Floating Pieces of Light Brown Flakes In Water-Using These For Years-First Time I've Seen This!
I'm not in the habit of writing negative reviews but after having used this system for many years I noticed light brown pieces of something that shouldn't be in filtered water. I'm at a loss to explain this as I've installed many of the cartridges over the years and know the filter replacment routine. If I ran the water for 30 sec. or more the water did clear up so not sure if there was a problem on my part during installation. I didn't want to take a chance on some type of contaminant in our kitchen drinking/ice making so threw the whole thing out as I was out of my return time and purchased a completely different single filter type without the fuss of replacing the dual filters. I've not had the same problem with the new unit with contaminants visible in the ater. Just out the $40 for the Pentak Filters. YMMV.

Not Happy!
The carbon filter passes small particals of black carbon, I have too filter the filter water in order to collect the particals using a very fine screen coffee filter I've collected 1/2 tsp full. Unfortunately I purchased two, I'll be glad when I'm done with this.

I increased the orifice hole to improve water flow. That may affect performance but every taste fine.
