Do NOT purchase from amazon. Buy from local dealer

I checked the calibration on this laser as soon as I received it. It was not perfectly accurate initially, but it was more than close enough to use in my framing and finish carpentry applications. In just 6 weeks of careful use, handling, and storage the laser has become to inaccurate to use. I think the locking mechanism on the pendulum must be defective on this particular unit so the laser isn't properly protected when it is laid on it's side in the manufacturer's case. Because it hasn't been mishandled in way. The 3 year warranty on this laser is described in the literature as an 'Over-the-Counter Instant Exchange'. Amazon will not honor that manufacturer's warranty. The Spectra Precision/Trimble does not have a direct warranty service that I can find. Amazon has sent me to the manufacturer and the manufacturer has yet to respond. Local Spectra Dealers will not exchange a level that was not purchased from them. I'm in this kafkaesque limbo with a new, and entirely useless, $550 level. The moral of the story is DO NOT buy this tool from Amazon. Go to the local dealers instead. That way you can take advantage of the warranty if you need to.

I have the 3 plane Bosch green laser level and these are in the same price range Reasons I like the Bosch better Spectra battery life isn’t what they claim you’ll be lucky to get 8 hours on one beams Plus in the Bosch I can easily change out to the new battery Second the Bosch automatically kicks when you turn it off Being you should lock it every time why wouldn’t you have this feature standard for all models

Lightweight

Nice compact unit, easy to use. When it's in the locked position for Transport Laser is still on (blinking) but you can still use it for Pitch-Slope-Grade, Awesome
