Absolute Best Pomade You Can Buy

I have used a lot of difference pomades. The issue is that I have extremely curly and thick hair, but I don't want hard clumpy product in my hair. So I came upon pomade a few years ago. I started by using the ones that you can find in the store everywhere, Cremo, American Crew, Paul Mitchell, etc. Every single one of those ends with my hair being all over the place within 2-3 hours. With this pomade I have found that I can get a good mold and hold for the entire day, and because it is so soluble with water, I can re-wet my hair later and reform it if it gets out of line. It also gives a wonderful sheen to the hair, and smells nice as well. Overall, the can itself is a bit pricey, but you get a ton of product with it and it lasts me a few months every time, using it every day. 5/5 Recommend

Work's great!

Easy to apply, doesn't have heavy smell, if any at all. Doesn't flake after using and is easily rinsed out if desired. Small amount goes a long way.

Okay, but smells bad

I've tried many different products, including Suavecito, Viking Revolution, Don Juan, and a few others. Some I like while others not so much, and some others I've had to return. To be honest, this one is one of my least favorites. The consistency of the hold is good, but the smell is pretty bad. The only way I can describe it is that of concentrated urine with added fragrance. I know that sounds weird, but that's what it smells like, the first time I used it I had to look around to see where the smell of urine was coming from, until I realized it was this pomade. That, and it's too expensive compared to other brands, so I won't be buying it again.

Great price, fast shipping - medium hold medium/high shine

I used to use Joe's Pomade Medium Hold High Shine. This doesn't seem to exist any longer, at least for a reasonable price. I came across Reuzel on Amazon. This is a great water based pomade. I really like keeping my hair semi-wet when using this as I have thick hair. It is a bit stronger than Joe's Pomade water based pomade but no where near as strong as gel - using more water will make it less strong and less water makes it stronger so it depends on what you like. It has a relatively good shine (weaker than Joe's but still decent). The best part after some experimenting is how much you get for the price. If you are up for experimenting, I highly recommend the 12 oz jar. It is only $20 which is a heck of a deal when you compare to the per ounces of other pomades or even the 4 oz in Reuzel. You can experiment without feeling like you are throwing out money like the smaller ones. This is a great deal - just takes some time to get used to as with any new product! The seller is extremely fast at shipping - no issues here!

Highly recommend for thick, dense, wavy hair

I am Latin-American and have pitch black, thick, dense and wavy hair about 4 inches long. For many years I kept my hair about an inch long because as it grew, it would curl up more than I liked. At the time, I used a Garnier Fructis Putty (Mess Maker) and gel. I have since discovered hair oil, leave-in conditioners, pomades, and waxes. My current routine includes spraying coconut oil in my roots (sparingly otherwise wax and pomade won't stick to hair afterwards), then applying leave in conditioner mainly on the top of the hair towards the ends (two pumps of Paul Mitchell Tea Tree) and combining my hair to help these products spread out throughout. I do all this with hair just slightly damp but then let the hair dry a bit with these products on before I apply either Bed Head Wax or Hanz de Fuko Claymation on the top of the hair. I do nut run my fingers through my hair with these products though. Lastly, I finish with REUZEL Hair Pomade (red) which gives me a slick back look that would be typically hard for someone with my curly/wavy hair to get. I have used Suavecito pomade and have found that it does not have the hold strength of this pomade. This pomade also has a nicer shine than Suavecito.

Product meh. Quantity very small. Nice for the pot.

Its basically a sample size. You get a really tiny amount inside and Its not even half full when you open it. I think its going to last me under a month, while the 4 oz lasts me 6 and is almost the same price. I wont be buying this size again, even at almost half price i felt like its a bit of a rip off. However, They are my favourite brand for hair products. The actual product is also meh. below average for the price. Its smells good, you get a nice whiff and its not over powering. You need to use alot compared to the Blue and Green pots which are the same price with alot more product inside. Once you use the appropriate amount the hold is good. Its got a nice shine to it. Its easy to wash out. I wouldn't get this one again. The quantity for the price is a total deal breaker. I think even with a 4 oz pot it would last about half the time as the others .

Love it!

I really like this pomade, works in easy to dry or damp hair. I use a little and it slows my hair to have movement and not locked into place, if you use more you can get a slick pomp but the product stays flexible and not hard and crispy. I am going to try the blue for more hold but suspect I will go back to red. Small tin isn’t great value but good for a test run.

Great product

My barber introduced me to the red Reuzel. We've tried the bright blue tin, the grey and the pink, but the red works best for my type of hair – thick and wavy. I've been using it at home every day for 4 years, and I wouldn't do without it. I like to be able to run my fingers through my hair, and the red Reuzel keeps it in place, with neither a wet nor a crusty look; just natural. This large tin is much more cost-effective than buying a small tin from my barber. Sorry mate.

Great product for that classic look.

Fantastic product, having had unsuccessfully tried different hair products I was recommended this pomade by my Barber. I found it easy to apply and gave a good sheen. As this is a water based pomade its a breeze to wash out ( though doesn't perform well in rain ) and doesn't seem to leave your hair feeling greasy or sticky. However compared to other stronger holding products this one does frequently clump together and fall out of place, requiring restyling by the end of the day. All in all I would highly recommend this pomade for anyone looking for a new styling product. Pros: - Smells nice - Nice shine - Average hold Cons: - Often needs restyling by the end of day - If it rains you're screwed

Great product

Love this product.....doesn't hold as well as non water based pomade but gives a much softer feel and look with enough hold to last the day.. .... plus, easy to wash out with none of the horrendous, impossible to wash out completely, product build up. Very small quantity but will probably last as long as I keep my current short hairstyle!!
