Easy to set up and use.

I use this to find meatal in wood I process in my workshop. finding foreign objects has saved me a ton in blade cost. I would recommend this product for the use I use it for.

If one goes over the boards twice and slowly, it catches almost everything made of steel... like old nails

Works for woodworking. Don't waste your money on the 150 dollar ones.

Yup. Finds nails in 150 year old rough sawn oak. Even small bits of old nails that has broken off. If you are using it for this purpose then also buy yourself some of the 4 prong plug cutters. Those work really well for deep set, broken off nails. Because you will find them with this and then feel uncomfortable running the board after you found them.

Not very sensitive.

I bought this hoping it would be able to find metal in salvage wood. It can find Brad nails but it cannot find the wires they use on nails in pallet wood. Look for another product for reclaiming salvage wood unless you want damaged planer or jointer blades. Sensitive is not adjustable on this model. This was designed for security stuff like the winding you get at an airport, not for woodworkers.

I use a thickness planer for woodworking and this will detect metal very well to keep the blades from damage

Low quality

Bought to find nails in reclaimed wood. Scanner did function ok...ish but very low build quality. Unit weighs 354grams with battery. I ended up buying a Garrett, which is more than 2x the weight, obviously much better build quality. The Pyle feels like a Childs plastic toy.. the battery connector almost broke taking the battery back out. Also, I paid almost $70.00 but a week later it's been dropped to almost half price. While it did sense metal, if you want something that will last more than a few months (if you are carefull with it) then save your money and buy a Garrett or similiar.

Good enough.

I use it to find nails / screws / staples / other metal objects embedded in recycled wood. That being said, it can still miss if the metal pieces are too small, like a fragmented nail pieces for example, I still had to change my jointer / planner blades because of that. It detects pretty much like 95 % of the stuff I throw at it.

Won’t stop buzzing ….,

This didn’t last 30 days . So far I’m still buying from Amazon after only 3 complete fails in purchases. This was the first . Was hoping to send it back months ago but I’m a business owner short on staff and time so the hassle of doing things twice has me delayed on getting my money back on faulty products like this .

not sensitive enough

it is a good unit. we use it at our sawmill. but i would have preferred it find metal that is buried a little deeper in the wood. depth of sensitivity seems to be an inch and a half, so we still have to be very careful.
