Great Find
♥ ♥ ♥ Tthis machine works really well, but I had to return it. I tried to foil vellum and had no luck but when I tried to foil regular paper the results were amazing. I am not sure if it was me or the machine. I did try to find youtube videos for help and it was limited. The price was still perfect for anyone who wants to us for standard use.♥ ♥ ♥ Thank you!

Worth it
Saved so much money by buying this instead of a minc! It does everything I need it to. A variety of foil brands, even holographic heat transfers.

Glad I ignored the prior reviews!
This is fantastic!! It does exactly what it says. I have tried both the foil that came with the Glaminator and my Minc foil, and both worked beautifully. Honestly the best foil quality. I'm so glad its replacing my Minc.

Not work as planned
This was my third attempt at a foiling machine for my sisters invitations. The foil would NOT adhere to the toner ink. I ended up returning the unit

What is the trick.
I bought this to add foil to my crafts. I got copies at Office Depo in black and white with a printer that has toner. I used the hot foil they sent with the machine. I used the carrier sheet. I had the button pushed to the star. Not one piece of foil stuck. I really had high hopes for this. Anna Griffin demonstrated one on HSN that looked like it worked wonderfully. It was $40.00 more expensive but I could tell no difference in the way it was suppose to work.

Inconsistent for newbie; labels, no problem!
I'm obsessed with this thing and want to foil everything now. However, I find it difficult to yield consistent results. I understand that you can basically do the same thing with a thermal laminator that is not marketed for foil transfer, but I don't really know beyond watching a few YouTube how-tos. This machine has settings for regular thermal lamination, cold lamination with press and seal type pouches, and foiling. I'm not sure what the difference is between the foil and thermal lamination setting as they both use heat. The first few times with the Glaminator, the foil transferred perfectly. Then it was a little bit 'rustic' shall we say. However I like that antiqued effect. It looks aged, and hand rubbed, especially in gold. It works well for the application I am using it for. I'm still experimenting and troubleshooting to see if I can control when I want perfect, and when I want aged. It appears that laser reactive foil is easy to find. However the plastic carrier sheets are a different story. There seem to be varying levels of quality from other brands, if you can find them — folders or carrier sheets, not laminating pouches. I went to Xyron's website and couldn't find them sold separately. I realized I needed backups after a bit of a faux pas. I wanted to only foil the logo of the labels that I had printed, ran the sheet through the Glaminator and the laser ink that wasn't covered with foil partially transferred to the plastic carrier, then transferred down from the plastic onto any subsequent print I put through the machine. I did some research about alternatives to using a plastic carrier. It seems some use just two pieces of paper to sandwich their print inside, but there were reports of it also lifting ink from your artwork too. I decided to clean my plastic, not knowing if it would ruin it. Nail polish remover did the trick, and just a tiny amount. Be sure to clean it well afterward as it leaves a bit of an oily type film with dissolved ink. Then I decided to always use a sheet of baking parchment (no wax) over my print to prevent further transfer of ink onto the carrier. Success. None of the ink transferred onto the underside of the parchment either. One star off for hard-to-find (non existent) additional carrier sheets of the same brand. Besides back ups, extras would be handy to have if I am foiling multiple sheets at a time as the finished work takes a little time to cool and sometimes I want to work faster than that rather than wait to prep my next sheet. I'm still not getting perfect results like the first couple of times. I'm not sure if after the first couple of passes the plastic transfer sheet becomes a bit compromised. It does buckle a little with heat. Will keep experimenting though and see what a fresh carrier will do. For now, for my current needs, I love the finish. Oh, and labels going through the machine are no problem. The heat doesn't affect the adhesive at all.

Me sorprendió gratamente!
Buscando una laminadora apareció esta opción, me sorprendió favorablemente. Tengo la minc de 6” y está laminadora no le pide nada. Solo la dejé calentar el tiempo que indico y 5 min más, utilice el foil con el que viene de Xyron y utilice el de Minc y los dos quedaron iguales. Reluciente y brilloso. La recomiendo, es delgada no pesa nada y mucho más económica que la Minc. Además el plus de enmicado en frío y caliente tamaño carta.

No funciono para foil.
Intente poner el foil en una hoja recién impresa y no funcionó. Estoy un poco decepcionada del artículo ya que no cumple lo que promete. ????

no aplica parejo el material
No aplica el foil de manera pareja, hay que dar dos o 3 pasadas para que lo aplique completo, generando mucho desperdicio.

Mala calidad
Ha usado otras marcas de foil que se pegan bien, este no me gustó por el acabado que quedó como brillantina y me deja muchos espacios sin foil
