TL;DR: Works and looks great with the exception of the recorded message feature. I bought this autofeeder for my cat out of desperation. She meows incessantly for 45 minutes or more before meal times which annoys my dog into shriek howling with every meow and causes me to contemplate double murder. I've only had this feeder for a couple days but so far it is working great! My cat is still learning that she must appeal to her new machine overlord for food, but she is already much better than she was. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and I will update my review if anything changes. PROS: - Easy set-up. It takes a few minutes but unless you're changing the schedule all the time for some reason, it's really not terrible. Some reviews claim you have to cycle through every time and portion to change something but that's not true. You can use the "+" and "-" buttons to navigate to the meal slot you want to change without starting from the beginning. Unused slots will have a time but if you set the portion to zero they will not dispense anything. This is probably obvious but it did confuse me for a second. I set mine to have 4 meals spaced 6 hours apart and it's been working like a charm. - No jamming problems even with larger kibble so far. The cat food I buy has larger chunks interspersed in with smaller kibble and I was worried that it might jam up the dispenser. So far it has been working just fine. It has a helpful sticker on the lid that shows you the largest kibble size it will accommodate and it seems to be accurate. I bought the 5L version which holds 4-5 lbs of food. - My devious cat has yet to figure out how to get extra kibble from it. The panel auto-locks so she can't press any buttons. I've seen her stick her paw up the chute to dig around but she hasn't succeeded in any extra snacks yet as far as I can tell. It's only been a few days so time will tell if she will use her demon powers to beat the machine. I would suggest either putting this feeder on the floor or securing it in place because I suspect that my cat would be able to push it off a table and/or knock it over of it was empty enough. The weight D batteries alone might make it relatively stable to tipping though. I have not actually seen her move it yet but I remain wary because she is a larger cat at 14 lbs and generally a menace to society*. - It seems well-made and is very sleek and modern looking. Appearance is less important than function to me but it does look quite nice. - I like that there is a battery meter display even when plugged in. I intend to have it plugged in all the time but it will be nice to know when the back-up batteries need to be replaced. - After completing set-up, I decided to move the feeder and had not installed batteries in it yet. I was expecting to reset at least the time but was pleasantly surprised to see it did not reset at all. It was unplugged for all of 10 seconds so I can't attest to how long it can go without power or batteries before resetting the time. - A customer service rep from PETLIBRO messaged me before my product arrived with some helpful tips and reminder that they have customer service available 24 hours on week days if I need it and a 12 month warranty. I have not had a need to contact customer service but I thought the pro-active message was nice. CONS: - It is not clear from anywhere in the instructions what constitutes a portion. From my measurements, it seems that one portion is equivalent to approximately 1/8 cup. I am happy with this portion size but I wish it had been clear without requiring experimentation on my part. - In my opinion, the only truly poor feature about this product is the recorded message option (whether you intend to use it or not). Other reviews mention that the recording quality is very poor and I have to agree. It is very staticy and mine also makes a rhythmic rasping noise even when recording silence. I had no intention of using this feature anyway as the sound of a pin drop would probably send her scrambling from across the house if it meant food. The problem is that there doesn't seem to be a way to delete or turn off the recording without resetting the whole machine. I hit the record button by mistake during set-up, which is very easy to do, and I didn't want to start over. I "bypassed" it by hitting the record button quick succession to create as short of a recording as I possibly could. The quick blip of static when it dispenses food doesn't bother me but it is annoying you can't just turn this feature off all together. This is by no means a deal breaker to me but if having a nice recorded message is important to you, I would not recommend this feeder. - Not exactly a con but I prefer a shallow dish for feeding my cat. The bowl that comes with the feeder is deep but it is a nice bowl and I like that it has a tray that attaches to the feeder to keep it from being kicked around. Luckily her old shallow bowl fits nicely within the provided bowl and I haven't noticed any issues with spilling while doing this. Not a big deal but something to consider if it matters to you. *I promise that I actually love my cat very much! ???? Picture attached. She's the best cat in the world... when she's not hungry.

Update: About a month from initial review. The device itself works AMAZING. Technology is perfect, no malfunctions, still easy to use. I have a ring camera set up to monitor it so I know it is working exactly how it should. I’ve gone through hell and back trying to figure out how much food to give my cat. Not that this is to the fault of pet libro. But each portion is .4 ounces by weight. There is nothing in this device manual that gets into specifics about portions. Many sources tell you how many ounces to feed by VOLUME. The two are very different. So be careful, and call your vet if you’re confused. Also- the bowl is way too deep. I have been trying to figure out a way to elevate it. My cat in the beginning was giving up on the last 5-10 pieces, and I think it was because of how deep it is. He is eating more now, but I can just tell that the bowl is too deep and narrow. This is a horrible design for cats. I know I’ll figure something out though. I just wish the bowl was more ergonomic. (Old review) I’ve had this for a little over a week and it works exactly how it should. The features are great. The instruction manual does not tell you how much food goes into a “portion”. You will have to google how many ounces is in each portion, and then calculate how many portions your cat will need in one feeding based on weight.

Inconsistent portions
Cons - portions are inconsistent. There is no clear measure of what "one" portion is. Right now I have it set to serving "13 portions" per meal for my dog which seems to be on average anywhere from 0.9 cups -1.3 cups Pro - great design and good capacity. Consistent and reliable. Very easy to use. Many options for customization. Overall definitely recommend the product.

Started using this pet feeder in Feb 2023, it's May and so far so good. Works like it should. No problems, No concerns. Note read directions before setting up, it will make setting timer and food quantity easier.

Can sleep through the night
My recent adopted cat is always waking me up at 4 AM to feed her and I have not been able to to sleep. This feeder had saved my sleepless nights. It is very easy to set up and put in your own feeding schedule. My cat is now able to get her 3 meals a day at a time that is best for her. I like how It also is able to keep the food fresh and from going stale.

Looks good, works good, terrific if you're disabled
I had ordered this one and the Petsafe 24 cup feeder to decide. This one is about half the size and still holds 21 cups. To determine the number of portions for the 1/2 cup feeding, I pressed the single portion until I got to what I wanted. So 5 portions is almost exactly 1/2 cup of Eukanuba small breed kibble. Different brands and kibble size will probably measure out differently. I keep 40#s of kibble in a rolling container and use a long handled ladle to scoop out the food. Just luck that ladle fits perfectly in this feeder to fill without dropping any kibble. This is the ladle **Vollum 1-Piece Ladle Heavy Duty Thick Stainless Steel - 8 Ounce (3.9" Bowl Diameter, 15.1" Handle Length)**. My back is pretty much trashed so I don't have to bend much using the ladle.

This saved us. 100% worth it
We bought this feeder 2 years ago to help with portion control and because our cat seemed to handle small meals throughout the day much easier than just one in the evening and morning. We have had zero issues with it thus far. Changing the timings and portion sizes is a breeze. We set ours to dispense every 6 hours and now our cat isn’t waking us up in the middle of the night to feed her. If we leave the house for an all day thing we don’t have to worry because she’s still being fed etc. I love that the feeder has a big reservoir for the kibble. We haven’t had any issues with it getting stale. When the power has gone out, as long as you have batteries in it, it works just fine. That gave me some peace of mind. If you’re thinking about getting this feeder, just do it.

Unreliable for some
The media could not be loaded. Average machine that doesn't work with all kibble types. Kibble size wasn't stated in description so I looked it up online and discovered that there's a wifi and camera version of this feeder if interested. My view is that this company is piling new features onto a device with very mediocre mechanical design. We were lucky that we filled the machine with rounded kibble when we were out - otherwise our dog would have missed his meals. Programming: Programming is easy, press the config button for 3 seconds then +/-/next. Problems arise with times being in 12-hour format, obviously 24-hour format is the only way that makes sense. And programming units is complicated because 10s and 1s are separated into different parts... e.g. press 'next' button to program hours, press 'next programs 10s of minutes, then 'next' programs single minutes - if you get the tens wrong you have to restart. Likewise with meal units, 10s and 1s programmed separately (it supports programming of portions too large for any bowl, go figure!). 6 meals can be programmed and you can (if you want) program a different pet-call voice for each meal - the voice feature works fine, you have to shout your message, it's basic quality but good enough. Kibble: Kibble size is stated as 2-15mm. Each different pet food will require reprogramming meal sizes. Rounded kibble worked, but square edged kibble (pictured) blocked the machine. You can see in the photos that the exit chute needs rounded corners at the dispensing end, and it's too small for the kibble pictured. With certain kibbles we found that each meal was a different size - because you cannot predict how many rotations of the wheel dispense absolutely nothing. For the pictured kibble I programmed 18 meal units, tested, then reduced/tested until I reached 11 units and the meal sizes were not substantailly different... ~115g of kibble was dispensed - then in real life operation, 12 meals amounted to ~60g of kibble, much less than the amount dispensed during testing. Cleaning: No. There's no way to clean this properly despite what the instructions say. If you rinse the lid the kibble sticker starts to peel, it isn't a waterproof sticker. The hood is washable, no problemn because it's a single moulded unit. But the dispensing area isn't at all convenient - micro dirt fills up all the cracks and crevices, there are screws visible, it's basically a bacteria trap. You can see for yourself in the photos. The black base can only be wiped with a damp cloth. All parts take hours to dry in the air because of all the tiny places water can get trapped. Aparatus: It would have been convenient to come with 2 stainless steel bowls so that it could be replaced while being cleaned. The rotating dispenser is made of rubber. Twice the machine completely failed with kibble getting stuck underneath the rotating dispenser until it was all distorted and wouldn't move. In the attached video you can year how much it's grinding. Other: You need to buy 3 D-cell batteries, otherwise your programming gets lost when you turn it off. It can fully run on batteries but apparently they drain quickly if used by the motor. There's no OFF button. If you want to turn it off you need to take out the batteries and unplug - when you plug it in again all programming is lost - this is a design flaw. I give this 3 stars because it's probably just about good enough value for the price if you use a kibble that dispenses properly.

Settings were easy once I had worked them out but took time to press and set programs initially You can change time and portion size to suit your cat. I bought the updated version that takes larger kibbles. My cat eats purina dried food which go through fine but can take larger ones. I haven’t programmed voice as you can hear when food is dropped in dish and no it’s not that loud but your cat will hear and run to it. Highly recommend so much easier than you feeding your cat and they get used to times of day when the food is coming. I programme a feed for late afternoon and I am often working so I know my pet is getting fed. If you have an overweight cat purrfect for adjusting their food intake to loose a bit of weight as long as you are not feeding too many tit bits in between Love the product

Outstanding automatic cat feeder.
I couldn't be happier with this PETLIBRO 5L automatic cat feeder. It is really well made with high quality materials. Set up took minutes and my cat had it figured out by the end of the first day even without using the voice recording (I omitted that step after reading other reviews prior to purchasing). I kept the 4 standard default feeding times of 12:00 AM, 6:00 AM, 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM. My cat gets one portion per time slot. Based on the size of his kibble that works out to a total of 1/3 cup per day. This is in addition to some wet canned food that we feed him manually. I swear that my cat can keep time better than most clocks and he clearly appreciates getting his meals on a rigid, predictable schedule. This feeder made my life easier and my cat happier at the same time.

The portions could be better but good costumer service
the portion sizes are not always relatable, but it does the work if you schedule larger sizes. The customer service directly with the brand is outstanding and they replied and resolved all my doubts and complaints. They gave me a full refund since the previous item delivered was broken.
