Lost

On a recent trip my Mom lost her pillow that she's had most of her 80 plus years. I took chance and ordered this for her for Christmas and she loves it.

Get a THICK quilted case for this!!

Are you looking for an UNDERFILLED 95% duck feather/ 5% duck down blend pillow at a very reasonable price? Then this pillow is for you. The ticking is a soft white color, cotton fabric. The edges and seams are well sewn with self piping. Yes, you can hear feathers rustling in this pillow. It's a FEATHER pillow, y'all - they rustle with movement, some more than most. Being underfilled, this ones rustles a lot. As it is broken in, the rustling sound will soften some. When I was growing up, my Mom had a floppy chicken feather pillow (made by my Grandma) that she slept with clamped over her head. Eventually it wore out and was replaced with another one that finally wore out about 10 years ago. Grandma stopped making pillows around 1990 and passed away in 2000, so no more chicken feather pillows. :-( My Mom is now very elderly and is nostalgic for another chicken feather pillow to clamp over her head as she sleeps. I *think* this pillow may work well as a substitute in floppiness for her needs. However, there are some things you should be aware of with regard to this pillow. Do NOT expect a sweetly supportive pillow here. This is an UNDERFILLED pillow useful for tummy sleeping, maybe back sleeping and for clamping over your head as you sleep. Side sleepers will need to stack 2 of these guys together to get the loft needed for proper support. I've been test driving this pillow for a few days while awaiting the arrival of a quilted case for it since this pillow is for my Mom. I can attest, as a confirmed stomach sleeper, that this pillow will work GREAT for stomach sleeping. It smooshes almost flat in all the right spots and unless you are super bothered by rustling feather sounds, it isn't too bad. The ticking on these pillows is NOT the thickest. You can actually see the feather spines poking the case from the inside! I have no doubts you will feel feather pricks from this pillow if you don't keep it in a very, very thick quilted case with another protective case over that & a tightly woven cotton pillow case over the entire lot... All in all, by the time you purchase a thick quilted case for this pillow (which can run up to $30 each) you're still spending a reasonable amount for an UNDERFILLED feather/down pillow - just be aware of what you are buying.

48 Hours To Get To Lavish

It arrived quickly which was a plus. I opened the box, unsealed the pillow, waited for it to gather air, and left the room. The smell was horrible and the feather / down ratio to the king size measurements wasn’t as it should’ve been. I decided to wash it on the gentle cycle with mild soap. However, after washing it, and tossing it into the dryer, the smell faded a little bit. I decided to put it outside for 48 hours, hoping the fresh air would rid the pillow of the smell. Believe it or not, the sunshine, warm temps, and fresh air made the pillow odor free. The pillow has fluffed up but as I expected it should. I’m still on the fence about the pillow.

Loudest pillow ever!!!!

I received this a a gift from my husband so that I would stop stealing his feather pillow. It is the LOUDEST pillow ever. I use it nightly, but holy crap, it took at least a week to get over the crunchy sound the pillow makes. I would not recommend this pillow.

It’s okay

Wasn’t really impressed with this pillow. You get what you pay for. When I first pulled it out of the package, it smelled like ass. I put some Fabreeze on it & let it air out for a few days. The smell was better. Slept on if the first night & it was just okay. Wish I hadn’t thrown my old one away. I am now on the hunt for a better one. If this is lavish as the company says in the title, it’s a lie & I for one am not impressed.

Great for the price, but not a great duvet overall.

For this price, it is fantastic. Usually a down comforter will cost 200-300 dollars. But if price isn't your main concern, you might not like this product. It doesn't feel soft and fluffy. The material is stiff and crinkly and doesn't fluff up much. You can feel the stems of the feathers inside, so it's overall kind of a crunchy experience. I ended up returning it and paying more for a more soft and fluffy duvet, but it was much more expensive.

The pillow casing has good seams and no feathers were penetrating from the case

This pillow has 95% duck feather and 5% duck down fill. This label says that the feathers/down are sterilized. The pillow casing has good seams and no feathers were penetrating from the case. However, the pillow does get warmer than goose-down pillows. Further, after a couple weeks it went flat and does not fluff up like goose down does. That said, this pillow is fraction the price of goose-down pillows. So, if you can live with the trade-offs, then this is a good value.

I was looking for a real feather pillow that is fluffy and not overly puffy as it's bad for my back and this is precisely what I got in this wonderfully light pillow. Really hard to find these in stores. I haven't slept the night on it yet but I just napped with it and it's just provides , for me the adequate amount of support for the head without over lifting it as many high pillows do.
