Be smarter than the tool!

As other reviewers have noted, this tool takes gorilla strength to make really good crimps. If you're trying to get that strength with your hands, YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG. Clamp a set of vice grips on the ends of the handles when you've done as much as you can by hand. If you're doing CV axle boots with this you also probably have the wrong tool. This tool is meant more for inner tie rod bellows. CV axles are important enough that they'll often give you a torque spec or ear measurement specs. This tool has no provisions for torque specs, unlike its bigger brother that has square drives on the handles. Due to the shape of the anvil on this tool you're not going to make perfectly uniform crimps. They've made an effort to mitigate the issues of a right angle type of this tool as best they can, but the inner part of your ear will likely be a little tighter than the outer part. It's a small price to pay for allowing you to service inner tie rods on the vehicle rather than needing to drop out the steering rack.

I should have bought these a long time ago

I've struggled with some of these clamps in the past, but I never had this tool. Needle nose pliers and channel locks aren't as good as these!! If you're on the fence, get them.

These Pliers WORK!

I received these pliers and it literally took me 2 minutes to crimp my two Boots covering my Inner Tie Rods. The result was totally professional and I don't why people in other reviews say you need gorilla hands or vice grips to crimp. It was nothing like that, so simple. I love the fact that these pliers heads are on the side so you can line the handles up with your shaft or tie rod to grip the clamp. I'm so happy I purchased these rather than the ones that you crimp from the end. Great addition to my tool box. Also, they are plenty sturdy.

Lisle you can’t go wrong

Lisle occupies a niche market for mechanics specialty tools. Typically the tools are well thought out and sturdy. I’d say they take second place to Kent Moore the other specialty mechanics tool company but good luck finding a seller of Kent Moore or being able to afford them. Lisle is a well regarded company that produces good quality tools at a good price

Great tool for tight spaces

I’ll only use this twice but it was worth purchasing for the job - tightening the inner tie rod boots on a Porsche Cayman which would have been impossible without this tool
