Excellent replacement for appliance plug
The Leviton 515PR 15 Amp 125 Volt, Straight Blade Rubber Plug, NEMA 5-15P, Black is well designed plug. Internally, wire connections are easy to access and secure. There is a rubber gasket through which you slide your cord to help prevent moisture from entering the plug. The clamp is self-centering on your cord as you tighten the clamp screws. And, the end of the screws are contained in the clamp so no threads are exposed on the plug. This plug is large enough so that no one in the home will be tempted to just Yank on the cord (which may be why you're replacing the plug to begin with, right?) First disassemble the plug and insert your power cord into the base of the plug body. If you are using a flat appliance cord, orient the cord in the clamp so it is flat. Then strip your wire leads. You will need about 3/16" of bare wire for hot (copper post) and neutral (silver post). Strip about an inch for the ground (green post). Note that there are 3 screws that hold the wire connections to the body of the plug. They are not equally spaced around the plug. Line up the holes in the body with the screws before trying to assemble. Pull gently on your cord to ease the connections into the plug body then tighten all three screws. With slight tension on the cord, secure both of the clamp screws. Tighten one side a bit then move to the other so that they are equally tightened.

Next time, I will choose a different plug.
I have replaced more than a few plugs over the years. This one was harder to do than most, and I don't have a lot of confidence that it will last. The plug has two sections, which separate. The cord goes into one of the sections, but it does not come out the other side of that section. The exit hole is only big enough for the separate wires to go through--not the whole cord. That means you can't slide the cord all the way through so that the first section of the plug is out of the way while you are attaching the wires to the second section. You either have to cut off an extra section of the outer covering of the the cord to give you longer wires and more room enough to maneuver or you are going to have a difficult time trying to connect and securre the wires to the second section because the first section is in the way. If you wind up cutting off more of the outer covering from the cord, when you join the two sections of the plug, you may wind up with a small gap between the plug and the outer covering of the cord. In that gap, the three covered wires are exposed and need to be wrapped wtih electrical tape. After a second try---and with much difficulty---I got the wires connected without a gap. However, the top section of the plug only grabs the edge of the outer covering of the cord and my guess is that, before long, the edge of the cord covering will pull out a gap will appear.

Quality plug, good grip, great value
This replacement plug works excellently once installed and is also pretty simple to install. It seems better overall in value than other inexpensive NEMA 15-5P parts. I used it to replace a plug on an outlet strip, for which some hack had busted off the ground tab. With this installed, it is actually easier to use than the original, molded plug. PS: it is a very good idea to check the polarity of the cord during and after installation. The hot side is also colored "bronze" vs "silver" as well, to differentiate hot from return, as usual.

Leviton is a good brand
I had a 50 ft extension cord take some damage in the middle, and instead of trying to repair it, decided to make two smaller extension cords, so I bought this male plug and the female Leviton 515CR version. The outlets are definitely larger than the machined ends, but that is required since you have to access the screw terminals to make the connections. The quality is fine and supposedly better than some of the cheaper brands out there that get bad reviews. For me the extra price is worth it. I want to do this one time and be done. I use extension cords all the time, and I don't want to have to worry about the quality of the connector or have a failed install and have to start all over again with a different connector. It's a lot more expensive to make an outlet that a human installs than an outlet that a machine can put on, but it's easy to make an inferior and cheaply made outlet for less money. Unfortunately, the price for the male and female ends are not a lot less than the price for a new extension cord, but I'd rather not through away perfectly good cable that has damage in one spot. You get what you pay for and these appear to be well constructed. As far as weatherproof, I feel they have done the best they can. Nothing beats a machined end for water tightness at the back of terminal. They use a cable clamp on the back end of the outlet to hold the cable in place and so you don't stress the screw terminals. Even at the appropriate tightness, I believe some water could enter the back of the terminal. I don't think that's avoidable, and in my opinion does not detract from the quality of the connector.

Works great, easy to assemble
It's a solid product, the one catch is to be sure you wire the hot (black wire) to the brass screw, the silver one is the neutral. It'd be nice if this was marked clearly.

Leviton 15 Amp, 125 Volt, Rubber Plug Grounded (Black)
Really impressed with this connector! Very well made, good terminals with screws and a nice "clamp down" on the wire (rear of plug). Robust enough to be easy to grab with gloves or mitts, this connector was my choice to repair several extension cords that had seen years of use. The only negative I had was to realize that the 3 screws that fasten the front of the plug to the rear are in a pattern so as to fit one way. I thought the three screws were in a equal triangle but they are not. This ate up some time and I stripped out some plastic and ruined one mounting hole (totally my own fault). Otherwise Recommended

Worked fine, I needed a large hole for the wire on a heavy compressor cord. Assembly screws only went into plastic but worked fine.
