I love this light.
I got a light that I knew had been returned previously, but the price was great so I decided to chance it. The light fixture had been taken apart previously and had also been installed, and taken down. Someone put the wrong lightbulb in and clearly could not get it out, so left it in. I was able, with some luck and dexterity, to get the bulb out, take the fixture apart again and put it back together properly(all the screws holding it together internally had been removed, and all of the insulation on the back had been torn off!!! Even though I had never done this before, by using logic and tiny tools, I was able to reassemble and secure the loose light socket. It took two of us to get the fixture to the ceiling, as the hole near the ceiling to secure the fixture up, is behind one of the star points, making it almost impossible to get your fingers in there, much less any tools to aim the screw through all holes. But, we made it. We love it, and it is so much nicer, as you can see. Generally, I would have chosen bronze or black, but everything in that hallway is nickel, I love this type of light..and the patterns on the ceiling when on are spectacular. Do not purchase this light if you need alot of light from it. It is pretty dim, almost a night light. (Just what I wanted!) And, by the way, Amazon help was wonderful and quite patient. Use them if you need.

Dangerous and confusing to install/change bulb
This fixture looks nice but has two very weird and potentially dangerous design flaws: 1. Mounting—the base which holds the bulb is permanently attached to the glass shade. So to install it, you are supposed to attach the full fixture to a tiny mounting bracket with just two threaded screws. Since this is a flush mount fixture, this means trying to install two tiny screws through a 1/2” tall base into a tiny threaded hole on each side of the mounting bracket. The points of the glass “star” jut out, so you need to do this by touch since they block your ability to even see if the holes are lined up. Forget trying to use a screwdriver for this and even with my small hands, I could not get the bracket and fixture lined up. Normally, the base which holds the bulb is separate from the glass so you can check the wiring connections are tight and safe before securing the glass over the bulb. This design forces you to connect the wires and just hope they stay tucked in below the fixture. 2. Changing the bulb—the glass part of the fixture has a weird “hatch” which was impossible to find without the written instructions. It is secured only by a “loop” of soldered metal, which snaps in place— and will likely come loose after changing the bulb a few times. I am returning this because I am concerned that even if I am somehow able to install it, someone else will not be able to safely change the bulb or remove the fixture. It’s also worth noting that the glass has sort of an amber tone. To me, “Mercury” spots look more metallic but through the amber glass they really looked almost more like paint splatter. It’s a shame because it’s still a pretty good looking fixture.

Great for hallways or landings
Beautiful replacement for a standard builder boob light. We did first try this in our mud room but it was too small and not enough light for the space. The tiny screws are a pain, but overall effect is worth it. Perfect size for hallways and our basement landing. This has a 75 watt replacement bulb in place to keep it brighter. Love the pattern it creates on the wall!!

Easy way to add interest to a small room or hall.
These were just a tad finicky to install but overall not bad or confusing. They completely changed the vibe of my hall and don't hang down too much. I love them. I'm going to put them in other rooms too. They make a really cool light pattern on the ceiling which makes their visual impact much more substantial than you would think based on their size.
