iSpring RO500AK-BN & iSpring ICEK

We had a 3 filter tank version of a Reverse Osmosis (RO) in our last house on well water. It was originally installed because the water was high in nitrates. In a few years the water eventually purged itself of the contaminates. However, since we had it, we continued to use it for cooking, drinking and our ice maker in the refrigerator for over 29 years. We were pretty familiar with what an RO filter it does and its maintenance. The rest of the story... we have owned a small townhome in south Texas for 10 years and recently moved in full time. From day one the city water although drinkable was pretty nasty stuff with the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) readings between 400 and 600. We knew we needed to do something about the water once we living there full time. We are quite cramped for space so we opted for a tankless RO system verses the tank version we were most familiar with. After some searching around the web, we selected the iSpring RO500AK-BN because of its 2:1 waste water ratio, customer recommendations and ordered it through Amazon. We chose Amazon in part because of their return policy as we were venturing into new territory. We were hopeful it would clean up the water provide enough pressure for the ice maker in our refrigerator. The water was so bad we had turned off the water connection to the refrigerator. After installation our TDS went from in the 400's to 56 and with the help of Alkaline option filter the water tastes great. We had some questions about its operation and the support folks Francis & Sean at iSpring were outstanding responding promptly by both email & telephone. Way better customer support than any other device we have ever bought. Once we hooked up the water line using the iSpring ICEK the ice maker was making nice clean ice like crazy. (YMMV) We have had it in operation for about 2 months and it has worked superbly. The installation is not difficult at all with basic tools. However, in our opinion the operation manual could use some improvement. The operation of the "alarm/indicator" light (Not the filter lights) could use some improvement. For instance, when filling the tea kettle, the "alarm/indicator" light would on occasion flip from Blue (all OK) to Red or Purple (trouble) but it is unclear what that means or what to do about it. In our case if you let the tap run for a couple minutes it would change back to Blue. We were told this is normal BUT that is not addressed in the manual. We bought a spare set of filters to have on hand but do not expect to need them for many months yet. In the end we are loving the clean water & ice cubes it produces.

Constant RO water supply

This was bought due to a traditional compact under sink RO could not keep up with the high demand of use with over 20 people using it during the work day. We were getting complaints daily on why it was taking so long to fill water bottles. This unit fills water bottles faster than the refrigerator water dispenser does. Installation is very quick and easy. There are only 3 connections (supply water, to faucet, to drain). Since I was replacing a unit that was under performing, it took me less than 30 min to install. There is very minimal waste water due to it only makes RO water when you are actively using the system. Being in a water conscious state, that was a plus. Since there is no expansion tank under the sink, there is room to store kitchen essentials. This is perhaps the best compact under sink RO system that I have installed and I have installed about a dozen different units. The only down side could be that you need a 120v outlet for power.

Got it in and installed. Love the design. Small footprint. Instructions are good but could use some revisions to be less confusing and contradictory. And, some important notes/instructions are missing that should be included. The system came with a faucet that was a smidge too small for a 1-1/2" hole in the sink. Turns out it was an older faucet without a face plate. Very grateful to Michele at iSpring, who sent the new and better faucet with the faceplate which works great! And, included the Carbon Block filter, which I thought was going to be sent versus the Alkaline. All this gratis; so very appreciated and shows iSpring seems to stand by their product and care about their Customer. I'm going to trust that it filters out what it says in the writeup, as I can't currently test it myself. System works good, water tastes good. Side note, for those wondering, you do not need a two way angle stop. This comes with an inline adapter that appears to be well made and should hold up over time. Follow up comment: I am so happy with this system. My ice cubes and water are clearer, taste better and even have a different texture. However, three days after getting this system installed, Amazon dropped the price by $125 (incl tax). I was outside of the 7 day price adjustment window by 1 day. I called Amazon and requested a price adjustment, which it declined. After speaking with Nick at iSpring, he once again, went over and above and offered to send me replacement filters to offset the price difference. Thank you Nick! Amazon could learn something about people and customer service from iSpring and 123filters.com. iSpring and 123filters.com has a loyal customer for life. Do not hesitate to buy anything and everything from this company. The products are good, the people are good and you will not be disappointed.

Love the tankless

I just want to say I love I-Spring I previously owned the tank version and its a little more cumbersome to install and replace the water filters. I love the new tankless RO500 it's so awesome and they have many variations to fit your needs. The installation is simple, and the filter replacement is a breeze. I recently had a problem with my System but the staff was on it immediately and got me up and running, they were so efficient and Nick from service took great care of me and my family. I just want to say this is the best investment yet and the water taste great. My cat had kidney problems 3 years ago he doesn't drink water after we got the I-Sping it all went away, and he love water. This is a really great team of people to work with

Best refreshing H2O I’ve ever drank!

After lots of reading up on reverse osmosis water filter systems, I chose this iSpring RO 500 as the one for my home. Very easy to install, I read the owner’s manual online before making my Amazon purchase as I knew I had higher than normal house water pressure, led to also purchasing the iSpring water pressure regulator that gives a maximum of 70 psi, I had no trouble setting up and installing the system. Because it runs off of 120 vac, I put a battery backup under the counter as well. I left the PE tubing long enough to pull the entire RO 500 unit out for any servicing in the future. The test came with trying store bought bottled water versus the iSpring and the unfiltered house water, the winner being the completely tasteless (quite refreshing too!) iSpring water as both the bottled water and obviously the unfiltered house water had distinct tastes that were like ‘pool water’ and ‘plastic’ tasting to the palette. We are very pleased with our investment in having clean, pure and refreshing water to drink for our family and cats. Thank you Amazon and iSpring!

Good Quality Water

We are using the RO500AK to purify our drinking water. It is good water but the taste was a bit off so for several years we’ve been buying bottles of water for drinking. We are tired of carrying around 5 gallon bottles of water and decided it was high time we got a filter system. The RO500AK came with an instruction booklet and additional setup instructions. At first I found them difficult to understand but thanks to Sean at Ispring we got it figured out and installed. Sean also helped with how and where to buy replacement filters. Thanks Sean! The water quality is very good and we’re pleased with the product. Hopefully the filters last as long as advertised. The other thing we like about the system is the low volume of waste water.

Outstanding Customer Support

I had another reverse osmosis water filter system more than 10 years and it was time to replace it since I wasn’t able to get the filters for it anymore. I did a big research and comparison between several different systems and manufacturers currently on the market. I wanted to choose some manufacturer, which has a good reputation and their filters will be possible to get a lot of years. Since my system was setup to deliver the filtered water also to a refrigerator, I wanted to make sure that the new one will be able to do it. I have contacted iSpring’s support and from very first moment they were very quick, knowledgeable and eager to help. Some months ago they told me that RO500 will (most likely) not work with the refrigerator. I appreciated the respond since they were telling me openly the situation without trying to push me to buy it. After certain time, Francis from iSpring customer support told me that they did some series of tests and it is possible to use RO500 system with their faucet and the refrigerator together. It was great news and I wanted to buy it immediately, however I needed to be sure that the faucet will be in chrome colour, which is not guaranteed anymore. I spoke with Francis again and he managed to find some last boxes with the chrome faucet. He was awesome with arranging all necessary steps so I can get it. He also managed to resolve very quickly some missing parts in the package and he made sure that the unit is registered for 3 years warranty. Thank you so much for your help. After the installation RO500 tuned out to be exactly what I was looking for. It’s much smaller that my previous system, it fills up a cup 3 times faster, the water tastes great and it has very nice faucet with useful display, which tells you a water quality (currently I am getting 2 TDS) and some other information if need it. I can confirm it works with the refrigerator - it has a different sound during dispensing a water to an ice marker or filling a cup from the refrigerator pipe and it seems to be slower than from the faucet. However it is still faster in comparison with my previous system. I am pleased with whole RO500 system and how easy is to replace the filters. And very important part is that iSpring customer service and their people, Francis in my email experience, are really outstanding. Thank you again

Love that unit, but there's a little thing that bugs me with the TDS meter Because this one's got a remineralization filter, on a unit that wasn't made with this in mind, (it's an upgrade they did, they just swap the final filter)., the issue is that the faucet gives you the remineralized water TDS.... so it's not worth a lot. I mean sometimes it reads 25, then 18, then 12, then 18, ..... It doesn't allow you to evaluate how the RO membrane is actually doing, or aging. They need to find a way to move the sensor where it belongs, after the RO membrane, before the remin filter. I asked the company where I could fit a TDS meter. The issue is that it's a closed connection system at the back, there is no 1/4 tubing between the RO and the CA filter. You can't just add a T with a sensor. There are some kind of bridges with connection ports, but I'm not sure which one I should use and how I should seal that connection, etc. Didn't get an answer yet.

Good unit, great service

Unit was easy to install. I had to get my granite counter top drilled out but I knew that. I liked that it has a small foot print than tank models. You can hear the pump running when filling a jar of water but it is no louder than my quite dishwasher. The pump only runs when using the faucet. I like that it runs 1:1 ratio for water loss. I had to get C-clips from the manufacturer for the connections as I could not find them in the box but I used E-clips from the auto store until they arrived. Worked with Nick in service and he was really helpful and even if it might have been my fault (loosing the C-clips when opening the box) he sent replacements out the next day. Thank you Nick for the great service. The price is a little high as I live in Canada eh and the exchange rate is not great right now.
