These are great sun hats - adjustable! Best I've found so far!

Pros: ~ Easily covers baby's neck, shoulders and face! The brim is really wide. ~ Many cute colors! We have hot pink and khaki and I have to restrain myself from buying more. ~ Adjustable strap in the back helps fit to baby's head - if the brim is flopping in their face too much, try tightening the hat and then pulling it down in the back. There will be a little less face coverage but still more than most sun hats and it will prevent some of the flopping. ~ The ties are PLENTY long - I have another sun hat that has velcro strings and they do not even fall to the bottom of my baby's cheeks, let alone all the way under her chin to meet up and be fastened! ~ You can cram these into a diaper bag with minimal wrinkling - they look just fine when you pull them out. Cons ~ I have one hat with velcro fasteners (that fit!) and I really like it - so quick to put on. I'd have a slight preference for velcro straps over a tie like this but I could see where it could irritate their chins if you had to make the velcro pieces long to ensure a fit for all heads. ~ The brim is sometimes too floppy and my daughter has to tip her head back to see. I think I'm going to try starching one and see how that goes. I doubt it'll fare well scrunched up in the diaper bag but we'll see - I wouldn't mind starching them regularly if it made it much easier for her to see and the starch held up through a few diaper bag crunches. I think if something is annoying to them, they won't want to wear/use it and I want to make this likeable to her so she'll wear it willingly - the flopping is the only thing I see as possibly irritating her enough to want to pull it off. Overall, this is the best sun hat we've used. I love the wide brim and the fact that it covers her shoulders so well and I love that it's adjustable.

Great lightweight sun hat for toddler!

This hat is perfect for your little one. Our daughter loves it and the tie helps it stay on. It's especially great for pool days.

Wish it had …

This hat does what it is supposed to, but it’s very floppy in the brim. I just wish it had some sort of structure, especially when wet. I really like the adjustable width so she can use it next year as well.

Good sun protection with one major flaw

The i play solid rim sun protection hat fit my 3 year old as expected, and did a great job of protecting her from the harsh tropical sun. We used it in the pool and on the beach, but there is one flaw that left me disappointed. Let me start by comparing pros & cons: Pros: - Bright, beautiful color. - Drawstring allows me to adjust this to her head circumference. - Easy to tie a knot and secure it under her chin. Some people prefer velcro closures, but because my daughter has a smaller head, a simple knot mechanism works better. We returned another hat because the velcro stayed loose on her. - Lightweight. Used it for hours without it bothering my daughter. - Water resistant. Perfect for pool or beach. Cons: - Brim is not sturdy enough. This is the reason for 3 stars. The hat behaved well when it was dry, but the minute it got wet, the brim started folding down over her face (almost covering her eyes). Once in the pool, she kept trying to brush the brim off her face. I am attaching a picture that demonstrates this flaw. My younger child has a hat from a different manufacturer and the structural integrity on that one is far superior even after extended water use. All in all, while it did an admirable job of protecting her from the harsh sun, I wouldn't recommend it for water use because of the folding brim issue. If i play can fix this design flaw, they would have a winner on their hands.

Best baby and toddler beach hat --- must have for sun loving babies!

After first purchasing one of these hats for my newborn son, at the recommendation of a local parenting resource center, I have never been without a couple in rotation. They are one of my top 5 MUST HAVE items as a parent. We spend summer weekends on the Cape Cod beaches for up to 8 hours a day, with our now-2 year old. He's never without his iplay hat and he's never sunburned (as a pale blond, half Irish kid that is an accomplishment). This hat covers his head, face and shoulders and fastens securely enough that he will wear it without argument. Not to mention how adorable it is on! I have happily passed on his NB hats and 1 year old hats to my soon-to-be-born nephew, and despite several washings they are in perfect condition. I have a pink NB hat on the registry for my daughter, coming later this summer! One thing worth mentioning: I said that it fit as expected....meaning it fits my son's age/size perfectly, BUT my son has a ginormous head (95-99% all his life). Babies with smaller heads may need a smaller size, though the largeness of the design is intentional to provide extra protection. There is a drawstring to secure it around the head which makes the hats quite adjustable. I would order the appropriate size and know that you will get extended wear from it.

Cute hat at a good price

This hat is cute. It fit beautifully. The ties make it fold in on the sides which I would have preferred it stay open to provide more sun protection.

Worth it

Amazon is generally not the cheapest place to buy these, except for the least expensive colours (I got grey) my toddler can hopefully wear these for another two years (she’s 26 months now) and then hand them down. She wears them so often that she doesn’t like to go outside without one anymore! I guess the key, as with anything and toddlers is consistency.

Good hat

This is a lovely hat with a wide brim. It's a nightmare trying to keep a hat on my son. And his sisters give into him a lot so the ties work when it's just me and him.

Good looking hat that protects from the ????

Loved that this hat has an extra wide brim that keeps the sun off the the face and neck. The drawstring ensures the hat fits most head sizes preventing it from blowing off In the wind. It’s quick drying so great for use in the pool although the front does have a tendency to flop over the eyes.
