Best purchase in Kitchen

I read a lot of the reviews and knew I wanted a black sink, not a white one. It seems like everyone is having issues with the white sinks, or are they not cleaning them properly? My black one is simply perfect. We’ve had it for five months and it still looks brand new. We have hard water, so we are diligent on drying it out often, it’s not an issue. I have no regrets on this sink and it’s my favorite part in our new kitchen, as it ties everything in together.

Great sink - but 10" is too deep

I'm going to write about what's good about this sink as a sink and as advertised, but I'm also going to share some about my experience with a deep, single bowl sink for those who are trying to figure out what kind of sink to get. I've been using this sink for about 3 months now. I wanted a single bowl sink because I was tired of the divider being in the way of washing some cookware. I chose quartz because it is much recommended these days. I chose this one because I wanted a gray one to with my kitchen colors. It is gray and slightly on the bluish side as opposed to the yellowish side. The installers had no problem installing it. It looks nice under my quartz countertop. I also wanted a deeper sink than my 5" depth one. Not being too depth savvy, I went with the deepest one! 10" is much too deep; I really didn't realize what a couple of inches difference could make. Leaning over this sink to wash dishes hurts my back and also hurts my husband's back - across the midback, shoulder blade area. I'm 5'6 average arm length, average to short leg length. He's 6'1" and he has relatively long legs and arms. I got the full-sink rack to go in it to protect the sink and let things drain, so that gave us almost an inch of space back, and helps - but not enough. I am about to look into how much trouble and cost it would be to replace this sink, installed with adhesive under the countertop. I thought I would like the disposer at the back, that it would be easier to get to; but it's not. It's okay. But in our case we had just barely enough depth room for the sink and a faucet, so the water stream from the faucet is mostly past the disposal. The disadvantage is not having the water force directly down the disposal when it's running (not sure that's critical), and you can't run water without getting the whole sink wet again if you just cleaned it. Finally, I also discovered a disadvantage to a large single bowl sink. It is harder/takes longer to rinse food particles from the whole sink. When I rinsed or washed dishes in the double bowl sink, all the food stuff was in one smaller sink. So, more water gets used now, too.

Beautiful sink, if you order the drain with the sink, confirm the part number is what you need.

I ordered this Elkay sink as a kit with the drain and bottom grid. It looks and works great! Note the part number of the drain if you purchase the kit. The included drain is NOT for a garbage disposal. For a garbage disposal, you need part number LKQD35GS instead of LKQS35GS.

The Weight of Sink/Package Is Incorrect in details

The weight listed for this sink is 26lbs, which is incorrect. The entire package when arrives is approx 67lbs. Be wary of this as (1) where you will be placing it - make sure you're calculating your weight-bearing correctly but also (2) because you will most likely run into shipping issues for this one like we have multiple times. It will most likely get shipped with a smaller carrier and they may not want to or be able to deliver to you because of the weight. Just be aware you may have to go and get the item from the post office yourself so just be prepared - its super frustrating! I will say, the sink does look great once installed though!

Good sink, takes some extra care

I cannot complain about this sink, because of the amazing price. Any other farmhouse sink or single sink, you would pay hundreds of dollars more for than this one. I love the depth, the size, and my contractor didn’t mention any installation issues. There are however some things you should know before purchasing. If you are lazy and don’t like to regularly clean your sink, don’t get it. I was raised to regularly clean and disinfect the kitchen sink, as it holds all kind of bacteria. So I’m used to scrubbing my sink. However, this one takes some extra care. It’s a porous material, and while it’s not awful at staining, I certainly wouldn’t call it stain resistant. If your husband or kids dump out a dark liquid drink and don’t rinse it (which they do and will ????) and it sets on there for a while it will stain. It you have an iron skillet and you’re cleaning it it will leave a scuff mark. If you leave wet metal in it, it will leave a rust spot. My photos are of it after being scrubbed clean a day ago. Those are the cons, and why I didn’t give it 5 stars, however they are all easily avoidable if you’re willing. And if you do end up with a stain.... rather, when you end up with a stain, a good cleaning paste and sponge will get it right up with a little elbow grease. All in all, I would recommend this sink. I wanted the farmhouse sink look in my new home, but other sinks simply weren’t in our budget. If you want this look and don’t mind some extra care, and can’t afford a sink that costs $700-$800, get it. If you can afford a more expensive one, I would probably get that one instead.

Definitely not WHITE

Just wanted to make sure anyone ordering this knows that it is NOT white like it is advertised. If we had enough time before counter install, we would return it and buy a white one from another company. This “white” sink looks more gray or off-white and has little flecks. The description should be removed or better explain that it is NOT white.

Love

I got this to use with my butcher block countertop. I got the white one and was worried that it would stain but I'm very impressed with how easy stains come out... I often leave bowls/plates in the sink, leftover food will spill over, yada yada, but i cover the drain, drop some clorox + baking soda + dawn dish soap + water and scrub for a few seconds with a handle brush and voila! its all clean and white again. love it!

Manufacturing defect

No strainer

The sink itself is beautiful. The quality is fantastic and the sink material is very thick. However, BE AWARE this product DOES NOT come with a strainer. You will need to buy this separately. This is not clear on the amazon product page.
