The perfect touch

This is a lightweight medallion which makes it really easy to install. Had to make tiny little notches on the inner circle to be able to get the base attached. We paired it with our new dining room chandelier and it looks great! Will definitely buy again when we upgrade other lighting in our home.

It’s OK

Easy to install and comes prepainted in many colors to choose from, however it’s made of very flimsy plastic. After installing there’s a slight gap between its circumference and the ceiling in some spots. Used it as a “mask” to hide the unpainted ceiling area after removing an old light fixture.

Beautiful but not easy to install

You have plenty of surface to adhere the center portion, but the edge is very thin plastic and not easy to attach to the ceiling. Also, does not come with instructions, so you have to figure out your own solution. I used a bunch of caulk and just built it up until the gap was closed. There was a gap even though I used painters tape to secure the edge while the caulk dried

My second try—this one is beautiful!

I purchased two 13” ceiling medallions for double mini chandeliers over my dining room table. I took photos for you to see. They really add elegance to the chandeliers. I get a lot of compliments on them. The thickness is similar to a bleach jug (heavy plastic). Some reviewers complained that it does not rest flat on the ceiling—not so for me. It rests perfectly flat with no issues. The inside opening diameter of the ceiling medallions (3.5”) was smaller than the metal ceiling mount that holds up my chandelier, so I had to cut notches into each ceiling medallion. I tried a utility knife, but it was easiest to use regular scissors to make several narrow cuts in a row, and then pliers to twist off each tiny tab. The medallion is not flimsy, but it’s still very light weight—so I did not need to use any adhesive to attach it to the ceiling. It is held up by only the light’s canopy. While I was wiring the light, I used a bit of electrical tape on the inside edges to temporarily hold up the ceiling medallion so it would be out of my way. The electrical tape does not show underneath the light canopy. Also, some guidelines I read said that the medallion should be either smaller or larger than your chandelier. Since I was hanging two chandeliers and also have some other decorative molding on my ceiling, I chose medallions that are EXACTLY the same width as my chandeliers and they look very proportional—so those size guidelines are very generalized and you may need to adjust them for your own situation. I initially purchased different medallions, which were too plain for me. This one is a nice compromise between not too plain, but not too ornate. I do recommend it. They look beautiful! I write honest reviews to help others make informed purchases because I read reviews myself and appreciate how helpful they can be . I hope that my review helped you!

Love the final look

Love the final look. However it was difficult to make it seamless but this is where caulk is your friend. There is no where to put adhesive to the outer rim of the medallion. I added it to the interior circle which lays flat to the ceiling but since it’s a little flimsy it caused a gap on one of the sides. To solve this I added a bead of caulk all the way around, smoothed it out and once it started to set I built up the caulk to cover the gap. That did the trick.

Looks Great

This medallion looks fantastic once it was up. A little tricky to put up, but overall, not hard. On a previous medallion, I tried wood glue, it did not work well, and I used white silicone caulk. This worked the best and had fast drying time. This medallion is a thinner gauge than previous purchases, that, coupled with the large diameter made if harder to adhere to the ceiling. I used 12 pieces of duck tape, and it went up easy (painter's blue tape did not work at all). The medallion takes paint well, with no need to prime. Overall, the most time-consuming part was removing the ceiling fan! I would definitely do this again in other rooms.

Flimsy and poorly shipped

These are so thin - a lot flimsier than other brands. Amazon shipped them in a box big enough to fit about 200 of these medallions it was such a waste. These do not come in any type of packaging - just the product with a sticker on it so combined with Amazons horrible shipping methods they didn’t arrive in good shape.

Looks great when installed correctly

As many of the reviews have mentioned, this is made of plastic (as per the description). The backing is hollow, which you can see in the second product image, though I was actually surprised at how strong it was given some of the other reviews. I don't see it bending or drooping at any point—it's honestly just too light for that to happen. Ours arrived in perfect condition and sat flat against our ceiling without issue. We've already ordered another one that also arrived in perfect condition. We installed it in our dining room and it looks wonderful up close and from a distance. Here's what we did to make it look convincing: 1. Paint it!! This product is intended for paint, so if you skip this step it will look like plastic (because it is). Paint it to match your ceiling or your trim, or anything else you'd like, but do not skip this. (We did three coats of a matte white). 2. If you need to cut a larger hole in the middle ring to accommodate your electrical box, use the right tool. We have a pair of construction shears (not sure what you'd call them), which can cut through thin sheets of metal. They cut through this easily without cracking it or breaking it. 3. Glue it to the ceiling, don't nail it. We didn't want it to be permanent, so we actually used a thin strip of caulk along the flat inner part of the medallion. Caulk is sticky enough to hold it in place, but easy to remove. The medallion is very light, so this combined with your light's canopy will be more than enough to keep it from moving. 4. CAULK THE EDGE. If you don't do this, it will look like a plastic add-on. And if your medallion doesn't lay flat/or your ceiling isn't level, caulk will solve it.

You get what you pay for...

I opted to not go the expensive route and knew it would be a cheap plastic disc. But it looks surprisingly convincing when painted. The only real disappointment is that I couldn't sink the screws in, so, even with filler and paint, you can see them. Also, while these are thin enough to cut, they tend to break, so if you're wanting something long-term, go with the more expensive solid ones.

Une vrai BLAGUE!

ATTENTION - Ce fournisseur ne vend pas de vrais médaillons. C'est un "médaillon" qui est en fait, une assiette jetable géante avec un trou au milieu. Même les motifs ne sont pas les mêmes que sur leur photo; Celui que j'ai reçu était avec des motifs quétaines de fleurs alors qu'il devait être contemporain. Je m'attendrais à retrouver un médaillon de cette piètre qualité chez Dollarama.

Plastic

Does the job but it is plastic & flimsy so I do not want to permanently adhere it to my ceiling. Will use for now until find a sturdier one. For now I just have it held up by the metal ring of the light fixture so there is a slight gap between the ceiling & the outside ring of the medallion.
