Incredibly lightweight

Wow, I've never been disappointed by a Toscano item before. First off, the good. This is really adorable, and the attention to detail is good. He easily connects to your pump with tubing (has a 1/2" port where his tail would be). I would strongly recommend a plastic hose clamp here, or even a stainless steel one, as no spitter has a perfect barb. Of course, for $55, he's not going to come with the pump or the tubing and you shouldn't expect that. He's well made, and well sized, though I do agree with some of the other reviewers that he's a little expensive. But, hey, you knew the price when you paid it. :) The downside, he's incredibly lightweight. He floats. He. floats. This isn't a problem if you plan on installing him on the side of the pond, well outside, on solid land, but my particular installation put him on a shallow ledge, in about 1" of water. This is advantageous as, should he leak or if the tube comes off, he leaks into the pond again. But, because he's so lightweight, he's incredibly difficult to position. The spout of water coming out of him from a 500 GPH pump (with headloss through the filter and such) is actually enough to turn him and move him. If it rains and my water level increases at all, he'll simply float around the pond on his tubing tether. I'm going to experimentally see if I can cut a hole in him without hitting the line from tail to mouth, and slip a couple of stones or something in.

Cute but no attachments

This little hippo is very cute. It does not come with any attachments to help attach it to a pump. I had to improvise and the pipe in the back leaks and it’s an odd size in terms of fountain hoses. I have to figure out a better fit other then that it’s cute as a get out and I can deal with a leaky hose for right now. I’m not super jazzed about trying to figure out the right size attachment for this hose/pipe idsue.

Hanna is super cute!

Hanna is really adorable. She is well made and seems sturdy so far. As others have said she does dribble. You'll want to put her mouth over your water source or it will empty.

GREAT SPITTER FOR POND.

We bought this spitter for our pond it is really a nice feature and does the job was worried about the 1/2 tubing that would need a large pump but we found a pump at Lowes that was 60.00 and it worked perfect we have had a lot of different spitters in our pond this one is by far the best all the other spitters tubing was 3/8 size which means it would get clogged all the time even with the filters the 1/2 tubing is larger which means it can pass lager debris and not get clogged I will be buying another when it goes back on sale.

I do love it but I noticed it leaks a little. Thankfully it’s on a waterfall so the water goes into the pond.

Adorable and well made

This hippo is perfect! I named her Rosebud and she is the fountain in my old "Tub turned fountain/shade garden.." She spits very energetically and keeps the water moving so I get no mosquitos.. the fountain runs 24/7 and I can hear it from my bedroom window.. Total win! I did have to add some silicone to around the hose where it attached to her body.. I am not sure if I bought the wrong size hose, or if it just wasn't 100% tight.. but the silicone took care of the problem, no leaking.. Definitely would recommend it!

So cute

Cute. Messy little cuss dribbles down his chin when he spits though, so if you don't stand him where the water will find its way back into the pond, the water level will drop. Might only be my one that has bad table manners though and I forgive him.

Its cute.

This spitter is cute and I've had a lot of compliments on how cute it is. I'm having problems finding tubing that fits it. I went with a larger tubing and put a hose clamp on it so that the hose wouldn't blow off but the tubing keeps kinking as it's not as thick as regular fish tank tubing. Still working out the bugs on this but those issues have nothing to do with the spitter itself. It works as advertised.

Amazing quality and detail

Absolutely adorable hippo!! I did put an outdoor rain/weather/uv sheild over top on the safe side. But it has really been great addition. I would recommend

Arrived broken

Arrived damaged, foot was in several pieces and near the mouth was broken as well. There was only half of the protective foam inside the box. Box appeared to be open or damaged then retaped. Very disappointing, was looking forward to this for a fountain I'm building.

Traumhaft schön, aber bitte nicht fallen lassen

Mir Dösi ist Hanna gleich beim ersten Aufstellen vom Fassrand gefallen. Natürlich auf nen winterharten Terracottatopf und rumms der linke Fuß zersplitterte in ca 10 Teile. Ich hab direkt den Sekundenkleber geholt und gepuzzelt. Bis auf ein 2*2 mm kleines Teilchen ist wieder alles an Ort und Stelle. Ich dachte mir, Polyresin krigt kaum was kaputt, aber der Kunstharz darunter nimmt es dann doch übel. Den Verkäufer oder den Transporteur trifft keine Schuld, das war ich Döspaddel alleine. Und ja, ich hätte heulen können. Also seht Euch bitte vor und geht umsichtig mit ihr um, sie ist jeden Cent wert.
