solid but pitch the screws

I bought these and the Moen version (Amazon had limited quantities). Both are solid, appear to have a good finish, and both have useless screws. I upgraded to stainless deck screws then all was well.

Met all expectations

I gave the part 4 stars, but I could have given it 5 stars. It is solid, it does what I expected and it was nicely chromed. I don't have long term experience with the item and without that I didn't think I knew enough to give it 5 stars. If it had been installed for 10 years and it wasn't corroded I'd give it 5 stars. My gut feel is that it would pass that test. It is a good solution for somebody looking to replace a towel bar so that it can be used as a hand hold but they want to maintain the look of a towel bar. It can also be used for a hand hold where a specific length is required. The bar can be cut to the desired length with a hack saw or a grinder with a cutoff wheel.

Recessed Screws harder to install

I bought two of these to replace the handles of my old side-by-side Refrigerator. The handles are mounted vertically. The doors of both Fridge & Freezer still seal well. I needed handles that were secure enough that I could yank on them. I drilled out 6 holes into the sheet metal of the doors, (doors are filled with insulation) and used shorter #8 Phillips screws. My only complaint is that the screws are recessed. That made it harder to screw them in "squarely." The 30 year old towel bar in my bathroom also mounts with 6 exposed screws, but the heads stick out slightly above a flat square bracket. They are easy to remove and re-install. Too bad they are no longer available, probably made in the USA thirty years ago.

Strong support bar

Very sturdy, easy to install on my vertical stud. Wish they fit the 16 inch width between wall studs so they could go vertical but none of the support bars by anyone actually fit. They do not slide on the bar part even tho they are not welded into the end pieces. They are great. Only negative is they are so well painted they are a little slick and makes me feel my weak hands may not be gripping as well as I think I need. Saying that, they small diameter of the rod is so easy to grip that it makes up for the illusion of slickness. i bought 4 and use them beside my bed, and inside and outside my sliding doors to get down into the patio and back up to living room. Fast delivery too.

Fits where others won't.

Mounting bracket design allows mounting up against the door trim. Tube can be cut to accommodate wall stud spacing less than 16". Looked at hundreds of assist bars, and this was the only one that would fill my needs. It is also sturdy. Happy with the installation.

I purchased this for a main floor bathroom for some mobility challenged guests. It works great and is very much appreciated by those guests. I have square/pyramid accented towel rack and toilet roll holder, this coordinates great with them. It has been installed for about a year now and is showing no signs of wear. The one drawback is that the mounting screws are a bit soft so be careful to pre-drill proper holes for them so you don't strip the screws. I found I had to go up one drill bit diameter size from that specified in the recommended installation instructions to have any chance at all of get them seated properly.
