Run large but nice pants

Made these work with the adjustable waist, which they thankfully have. Great fabric. My son said they were comfortable. Easily tuck into socks. They were just quite big in the waist and quite long for a youth small. But they did work for our hiking field trip and now he’ll have them for several years. Glad I bought them.

Great for super skinnies!

My son is about to be 6 and buying him shorts or pants is a huge pain. He can easily fit into 2T and 3T waists, but usually needs a 4T/5T length. All his shorts that fit his waist only come halfway down his thighs. We bought these pants in XXS for a National Parks road trip with a 70 temperature swing and some in-creek hiking and I'll try to update on how they stand up. But once he got them on and the legs zipped off, he said he wants to wear them EVERY DAY because they're longer than his other shorts (no one has ever said anything to him about this, but he's noticed.) They cinch in very small on the waist (they could even go smaller than him!) but don't bunch up the pant. They look very nice. As pants, they are the smallest smidge long on him when he is wearing shoes, but I'll either roll them once or take them up an inch. I had thought these would be a one-time purchase, but we'll be buying more! Only 4 star because the pants can get caught in the zipper when zipping off, and the elastic of the adjustable waist is much stiffer and scratchier than in most kids pants.

Too thin/poor quality

I'll start by saying that, in general, we love the quality of Columbia outerwear. We purchased these pants for two of our kids to wear as scout uniform pants. Ordinarily we buy zip-off, trail pants from LL Bean for this purpose, but their pants were on back order for months, so we decided to give these a try. Very disappointing. The pants are super thin/lightweight. That in itself would be okay as the kids could always wear long johns under them in colder weather, but the pants are never going to hold up to outdoor use by active kids. After one washing and zero wearings (on kids they are a bit loose on), the seams are stretching so that you can see light through the stitching. One camping trip with hiking, wood splitting, etc., and I know these pants will get trashed. Even still, for the price we might have made do for awhile, but the belt loops are so small that scout belts won't fit through them, so they can't be used as uniform pants as we intended. Unfortunately, my kids tried them on hastily, declared that they fit, and we didn't realize the other "issues" with the pants until they had already been washed for the first wearing. So I think we're stuck with them now, though I am going to look into returning them. Will update regarding the customer service piece of that.

Quite long

These are designed for long-legged, skinny kids, which is great for mine, but they are even a bit too long on him (5ft 1in, 80-90ish lbs). Caveat emptor.

Good cargo pants for scouts

My son likes the feel and fit of these pants. They're a little lighter in color than his pants from the scout store but they work just as well. One think I don't like are the pockets. While the pants are green the material inside the pockets is white and they're always a little open so there's always some white showing on the sides of the pants. It's just a cosmetic annoyance though, so not a big deal.

THE SIZING IS CRAZY

The size charts are USELESS. I needed a size 5 for my little guy and ordered a small (which is pretty standard for EVERY OTHER style of kids clothing). When we got the pants, I noticed that the inside tag was labeled "S" and then there was a barely perceptible "8" underneath it. Needless to say, these pants are a size 8 for a small. Sending them back to get XXS in return. Please make an effort to update the sizing recommendations for this product.

comfortable, fits a little tight

These wonderful hiking pants have loads of useful features. I measured my inseam at 32, which was the regular length. Knowing I usually need long I ordered both a pair of long and a pair of regular. The regular are definitely too short, so if your length falls right on the measurement you may want to order up. This is also true for the width. Although I am right at the width measurement for size 8 they are slightly tight. I probably should have ordered a 10.

great for active boys who love being outside.

These are really nice quality, especially for the price. They fit true to size and they wash well and dry quickly. My active boys recently wore these on an African safari and they held up great. My boys are both pretty slim so it was nice to be able to use the adjustable waist to tighten them up. Was nice to be able to unzip and remove the bottom of the pant in the afternoon once it started to warm up.

Cómodos y frescos. Ideales para largos paseos por la montaña en verano.

Compré los pantalones de la talla XS, para una niña de 5 años, y la verdad es que les están un poco grandes y bastante largos. He pensado este verano utilizarlos sólo como pantalón corto, y ya crecerá. Puede hacerse la cintura más pequeña con los botones. Por el precio que tienen están genial. Son cómodos y fresquitos. Ideales para senderismo. Yo tengo los mismos pero de mayor, claro está, y estoy muy contenta. No le pongo ningún pero. Tiempo de entrega rápido, y super bien de precio.

Buena calidad a buen precio

Yo tengo unos de la misma marca y de la misma tela y me parecen unos pantalones muy prácticos tanto para verano como para invierno. Para mi hijo de tres años de cintura le quedan bien ajustándola con la goma que trae, pero de largo le viene grande aun.

Adjustable elastics in waist, wider (bootcut style) pant legs, actual button for waist which is a little tough for younger kids, but great pants otherwise! My son loves them!
