Crucial flaw mars this product...

This modern farmhouse light is nicely designed and attractive once hung, but it suffers from a flaw that renders it almost unusable. When installing a light (any light) you need to remove the locking ring/screw loop collar, and then thread the socket through the top hole in the glass shade. You then screw the locking ring back on on the other side of the glass shade, and then install the light bulb in the socket. But here, the manufacturers cut the hole in the glass shade too small to feed the socket through! It is a very frustrating discovery, especially since this step usually comes after doing the ceiling installation steps. And it's not just that it’s a close fit… it is absolutely impossible to get the socket through the hole. The only way to make this product usable was actually to disassemble the entire socket unit, and then rebuild it with the proper half on each side of the glass shade (which is not fun, even for someone who knows what they are doing, and would be very difficult if you hadn’t worked with lights before). Or alternatively, if you had a tool to cut glass, you could widen the hole the significant amount required. So although this is a visually attractive light, it gets one star for having such a crucial flaw.
