Great gate, a little tricky to install

I recently installed the Safety 1st Easy Install 28" High Walk Thru Gate at the top of my stairs, and it's been a great addition to my home! While it's possible to install it by yourself, I found that having a second person to help makes the job quicker and easier. The gate is sturdy and reliable, providing a safe barrier for my child without any gaps or wobbling. The walk-thru feature makes it convenient to pass through, and the height is perfect for keeping my little one safe. The installation process was straightforward, and the gate came with clear instructions. Overall, I'm happy with this gate and recommend it to anyone needing a reliable and easy-to-install safety gate for their stairs! Recommendation: Pair this gate with rubber wall bumpers to increase stability and protect walls.

Works good, however…

I got this as a way to keep my dogs out of certain areas of the house. For the most part this thing is easy to put up but to get the locking mechanism to work all the way you have to tighten the wall bolts a lot…like a lot a lot. My house is a bit older and may possibly have thinner drywall or further struts but this thing was flexing the walls to even get the lock to work properly. I had to find another area that had closer struts that I felt better putti my it in so that I didn’t cave in the walls with the force it took to enable the locking mechanism to work properly. The lock works well and won’t easily be figured out by smaller children, however after a bit of use the top latch quit working. I had to disassemble the mechanism and remove the top lever that had broken (mainly due to it being thin plastic and over use of course it broke) that way I could still use this thing with just the bottom button. Otherwise it holds up well. I don’t exactly recommend for stairs because someone may think they have unlocked the latch and walk into the gate in a hurry and trip over it.

Good gate that’s easy to install but does not auto close

It is a decent gate for the price. It’s fairly easy to install. The method to take out the end pieces to add the extension is a little weird but fine after you figure it out. I did end up returning it however bc the description where it says “Automatic closing door” is a little deceiving. I suppose they meant that once you push it closed it will automatically latch. I was looking for a door that is self closing, meaning that I just need to let go of the door and it will automatically close. This one doesn’t do that.

Lock doesn’t change from green to red

Easy to install. Lock doesn’t change from green to red. It’s always on red whether open or closed Directions doesn’t say where to measure the wall. I measured wall to wall which stated to use one extender only to end up doing baseboard to baseboard at the bottom and wall from wall at the top only needing one extender. UPDATE : when the lock doesn’t turn green it’s not tight enough.

Quality

Gate is steady and held up to pressure, unfortunately the latch to open was some what difficult at times to open then eventually it broke now I’m using the little grey stoppers at the bottom that prevents it from swinging open as a latch. Hope my son doesn’t figure it out and go done the steps ????????

Easy to install and use

Installed in 15 minutes. Easy to open with one hand and closes easily. Keeps our Frenchie puppy contained in my office while I work from home and, as you can see, also his bulldog big bro. Didn't damage the door frame at all and can be expanded to a wider opening with the included parts if I expand his roaming area as he grows.

Very sturdy!

Maybe a bit more to the install than the average plastic baby gate but the peace of mind and ease of opening and auto-locking mechanism is worth it. Very sturdy and solid.

Best gate I’ve ever used…

I bought this gate to keep my puppies out of certain rooms. It’s been great as I don’t have to “lock” it each time I go from room to room. I just prop the gate closed and the puppies can’t open it. It works so well I purchased two.

Mejor de lo que esperaba

Muy buen producto, la instale hace unos meses y está genial, resistente a los bebés de 3 años. La cerradura se ve un poco frágil y es segura para que el nene no la abra. Mi hijo se cuelga de ella y hasta ahora está intacta. La recomiendo por su fácil Instalacion y sobre todo no necesitas barrenar paredes ni tampoco ninguna herramienta, además de su seguridad y durabilidad.

No abre/cierra correctamente

Al momento de la instalación la apertura de la puerta era un poco difícil, pero nada que no se pudiera resolver. Con el paso del tiempo, la "chapa" comenzó a volverse más dura y mas complicado poder abrir la puerta, hay momentos en que no se puede abrir por que el doble mecanismo de liberación no logra funcionar entre si y se vuelve un verdadero problema volver a abrirla. Anteriormente compré una Chicco con cierre automático y su sistema de apertura funciona correctamente, el único problema es que no encontré del mismo tamaño que viene esta, por eso no la compré. Sinceramente no la recomiendo.

Tough to open

This Safety 1st gate is inferior compared to its Flat Step model. This gate is difficult to open, causing my fingers to tire out trying to open it. Needed 2 hands to open the stiff and fiddly latch in the end. I had to return this gate. However, the Safety First Flat Step model is wonderful, requiring an easy one hand movement to open the latch. Also the Flat Step model has a nice bright white finish, its bars are flattened to give a lovey look and of course it has a nice flat step over.

Vale la pena.

Súper fácil de instalar y si se ve bastante resistente. Me gusta que tiene la extensiones para vanos más amplios. Su único defecto es que, a veces la cerradura está súper dura. Yo compré tres puertas y una de verdad batallo demasiado en abrirla. Espero que si le pongo algo se afloje un poquito. Pero las otras dos puertas si las puedo abrir con una mano. ————————- Edito este comentario, solo para agregar que en efecto, le puse afloja todo y ya es más sencillo de abrir. También quisiera añadir, por si alguien tiene aspiradora robot como yo, que sin problema los pudimos poner más arriba (en el aire) para que la aspiradora pueda pasar, y aún sujetándose sólo del muro son muy resistentes.

Muy dura cerradura

Funcionó solo 1 día, el seguro se atoraba y era imposible abrir o cerrar la puerta por lo duro que estaba. Pedí reembolso y la voy a regresar no sé si me llego defectuosa o simplemente es su sistema de seguridad que ni los adultos podamos abrirla
